SIGYN'S POV

I was fast asleep when Loki burst the doors open, seething with rage. I quickly bolted out of bed, feeling both worried and scared of him.

"You! You're the cause of all of this!" He screamed at me.

"What have I done now?" I asked.

He grabbed me by the arm and roughly pulled me to his chest. "I just came back from Midgard." He said, "and Megan completely denounced me. She wants nothing to do with me now."

"Loki..."

"Shut up. I'm not done talking." He snapped at me. "And you know what else?" He continued, "When I got back to Asgard, I was told that the king demanded my presence. And you know what he told me?"

I slowly shook my head.

"He demanded that I marry you." He hissed, his grip on me painfully tightening even more. "If not, he will disown me. That's what you wanted, isn't it?"

My jaw dropped open, at a complete loss of what to say. I had not seen this coming at all.

"I bet you're happy now, aren't you?" He growled, his eyes watering with tears. It pained me to see him hurting so much. "Thanks a lot for ruining my life!" He shouted, then tossed me back on the bed quite unceremoniously. And with that, he spun around and marched out of the room.

I couldn't get myself to fall asleep again that night. When morning came, Loki's words still hadn't quite sunk in yet. When Zulfa brought me breakfast she was upset to find me not yet dressed.

"You do know that we have a long journey ahead of us, don't you?" She scolded me. "Why aren't you dressed yet?"

"I'm sorry." I apologised. I wondered if I should tell her about my marriage with Loki, but then I decided not to. I knew she would get jealous and would do her best to harm me and my baby again. I wouldn't dare put Balder's life at risk. I would kill myself if anything happened to my son.

"Where is Loki?" She asked.

"I don't know." I answered her.

"Didn't he spend the night here?"

"No." I shook my head. "Last night he came in here angry, blamed me for ruining his life, then stormed out again."

"So the Midgardian refused to take him back." She smiled happily. "This is just perfect. Sif will be happy to hear this."

I froze.

"Sif?" I questioned, anger burning inside me. "What does she have to do with all of this? Don't tell me she's helping you."

"Be quiet, Sigyn. You don't know what you're talking about."

"I demand an answer!" I yelled.

"You will demand nothing from me!" She yelled back at me. "If you want to see your baby again, you will remain silent and won't ask me any more stupid questions."

Damn you. Damn all of you. I thought to myself as a tear fell from my face. I couldn't believe that Sif played a part in my enslavement. I thought her to be a friend. My confidante. How could she allow this? What did I do to deserve this kind of betrayal from her?

I will make you pay. All of you who had a part in this. I swore to myself, my chest filling with bitterness.
