Part 1-Ali

Holby City Hospital Ali typed into a maps app on her iPhone, it was still 7 miles away. Ali had already got a bus from Gloucester to Bristol and then another from Bristol to Holby and she'd walked for 30 minutes already. She was in the middle of a park and began to feel dizzy and sat down on a nearby bench. There was a children's park nearby. Ali watched a young girl who was about 4 playing on the swings, being pushed by her grandma. Ali began to daydream about the parks back home in Wicie in Poland and the lovely times Ali herself had spent with her Grandma, Her beloved Babica. The parks in Poland were so beautiful, much more beautiful than anything Ali had seen in England. Ali looked around and saw a Pussy Willow Tree, Ali's Babica used to tell her a Polish folk story about kittens and willow trees, how the pussy willows got their names, she daydreamed about Poland and her Babica a little longer. She found herself doing this more and more these days. 'tęsknię za tobą babcię' she whispered. I miss you grandma!
Ali's Babica wasn't dead, but she still lived in Wicie. Babica didn't have a computer and it was too expensive to call from Poland except on special occasions like birthdays. She sent letters though, the most beautiful, poetic letters. 'kocham cię natalia' she imagined her Babica saying. Poland was safe to Ali, Poland was home, in Poland Ali was loved.
Everything has gone wrong since Ali moved to England 7 years ago and to top it off her wonderful Aunt Anja had died over a year ago. Since then Ali had felt so alone, Ali used to text and phone her Aunt Anja and her cousin, Anja's daughter Zosia most days. But since Anja died Ali didn't just loose her aunt but her cousin too. Zosia stopped replying to texts and answering calls, so Ali stopped even trying. Ali loved her mum Klaudia dearly, but since moving to England 7 years ago Klaudia had been with a string of no hope men. Ricky the newest one had been the worst and 1 month ago Ricky kicked Ali out! Klaudia was far to weak to stand up to him. Since then Ali had lived with a few friends but the parents of Jess her best friend started to ask questions, so she came to Holby to find her cousin, to find Zosia her cousin. Ali got up and started to walk to the hospital. She walked forward 5 steps and fainted.
