Zosia helped Ali change into her gown but allowed her to wear her jacket to hide her cuts as a compromise. 'Hey Natalia look what I found this morning' Zosia smiled as she pulled the bracelet Ali had made her out of her pocket. 'What a coincidence,' Ali smiled 'I must have been about 10 when I made this for you, we were in Cornwall weren't we?' Zosia nodded and tied the bracelet around Ali's wrist. 'Kochaine, I'll just get someone to come and take your blood, see if we can find out why you collapsed,' Zosia put a comforting hand on her cousins arm. 'Why can't you do it?' Ali asked 'you're a doctor.'
'I'm also your cousin, it's against the rules, sorry' Zosia apologised. 'I'll get a nurse'
'But they'll see my arms- they'll think I'm crazy or attention seeking!' Ali panicked
'No they won't, you're not crazy Kochaine. It's part of a nurses job not to pass judgement, I promise, it'll be okay.' Zosia kissed her cousins forehead. 'I'll be right back,' Zosia left Ali's cubicle and spotted Charlie Fairhead. 'Charlie?' Zosia called.
'Doctor March, what are you doing down here?' Charlie asked
'My cousin Natalia is here, can you do her bloods?'
'Sure' Charlie replied
'Oh and Charlie' Zosia said sheepishly as Charlie picked up a blood test kit, 'she's been hurting herself, cutting her arm.'
'Don't worry, I won't stare or mention it.' Charlie smiled and walked into Ali's cubicle.
'Hi Natalia, I'm Charlie, I'm just going to take some bloods, can you take off your jacket?' Charlie said softly. Ali looked up at her cousin 'jest w porządku,' it's okay Zosia nodded at
Ali to take of her jacket. Ali took a deep breath and took it off. Zosia squeezed her hand and started talking to Ali to distract her from the blood test. 'What's your mama up to Natalia?'
'Well you know my mama.' Natalia smirked 'she's got a new man Ricky, they know I won't be home tonight.'
'That sounds like Cioteczka Klaudia to me!' Zosia smiled.
'She's never been the mothering type' Ali sighed. 'Your mama and Babica practically brought me up' Ali felt Zosia stiffen at the mention of her dead mother. 'nędzny' Ali apologised.
'It's okay' Zosia smiled. 'Have you heard from Babcia?' Zosia asked
'All done' Charlie smiled.
'Thank you' Ali smiled up at him. Charlie left the two of them alone in the cubicle again. 'I got a letter last week, detailed description of buying Kasha smart new clothes for starting school, trips to the park and the beach, saying she misses up, dissing your dad.' They both laughed. Babcia didn't like Guy Self at all. She felt that Guy had stolen half her family to England. First her eldest daughter Anja, Zosia's mother. Anja had persuaded Ali's mama Klaudia to come to England too, stealing Babcia's youngest daughter and granddaughter she was closest to as well. Ali opened the side pocket of her colourful bag and gave Zosia Babcia's latest letter. Zosia began to read 'Moja najdroższa Natalia' my dearest Natalia. Zosia sighed 'I love Babica handwriting.' She continued to read 'Mam nadzieję, że Anglia traktuje cię dobrze' I hope England is treating you well.
'Ali' neither of the girls has noticed Mrs Beauchamp walk in 'they're transferring you up to our AAU ward.'
'You're keeping me in!' Ali was shocked.
'We need to find out why you collapsed' Mrs Beauchamp smiles then whispered to Zosia 'don't forget weight and BMI'
'Thanks Mrs Beauchamp' Zosia smiled while Ali got into a wheelchair, panic spreading across her face. 'You're okay Kochaine' Zosia reassured Ali whole they waited for the lift. Although looking at Ali's slender frame and scarred skin Zosia wasn't sure if that was true.
