The next night was the Christmas party, Zosia didn't want to go and Ali wasn't too bothered but Ollie dragged them along to try and cheer Zosia up. Zosia looked lovely in a black dress as she twisted her hair up she heard tears from upstairs so she went to investigate. "Hey, Natalia, what's the matter?" Zosia asked. Ali was stood in a sparkly shirt and tights her dress was on the floor of her bedroom. It doesn't fit." She sobbed. "Thats ok," Zosia smiled, "You have plenty of dresses. We'll just find another that does."
"It's my biggest. When I first came to Holby and we went shopping, I was so much smaller than I am now." Ali was still crying. Zosia looked at her cousin. Her ribs were still clearly visible but her hips were less so and a tiny bust was forming. There was no time for shopping, they were meant to be there in less than an hour. Then Zosia remembered her prom dress from when she left school. It was in a box at the back of her wardrobe full of things from her teens. She hugged Ali then ran to get it. It had corset style strings that could be tightened or loosened across the back. It was black and knee length with diamantés on the front of the bodice and an underskirt which allowed the skirt to flare out a little. Ali put it on and Zosia pulled the strings tight. It looked stunning. The knee length showed off Ali's long and skinny legs. The dark colour looked incredible against the paleness of her skin and the smoky eyes Ali had done with her makeup suited the dress perfectly. "Do i look ok?" Ali asked biting her lip. "Kochanie you look stunning, piękny." Zosia complemented her cousin. Who smiled.
They got to the party right on time. As soon as they got there Ela spotted Ali "Talia" the little girl cried as she threw her arms around Ali's thighs until she was scooped up and placed on Ali's hip. "Cześć kotek." Hi Kitten. Ali's smiled at the little girl using the nickname she'd devised from the little sounds she made when trying to sleep. "You look vey bootiful" Ela smiled In her little girl voice. They did some dancing while the adults sat at a table. "Hey Ali," a voice caused Ali to turn around. It was Evie Fletcher, Fletch's daughter and Ali's mentee at school despite she'd not been there for 3 months "Did you move school? I guessed you'd moved back to Poland."
"I've not been well."
"But you're better now?" Evie asked.
"A little, it'll be a while before I'm back in school though." Ali smiled politely.
"You're lucky to have Zosia and Ollie then." Evie said.
"Sorry?"
"To look after you when you're sick, my dads great at looking after us when we're sick but we can never pull the wool over his eyes. No fake sick days." They both laughed. "You're dress is lush by the way" Evie added.
"Thanks, Zosia gave it to me."
They danced to all the silly songs. Cha-cha slide. Macarena and all of those. The more drunk the grown ups got the more they joined in. All except Zosia. "Hey Zosh, You not dancing?" Ali asked.
"Nah, not really feeling it today." Zosia said as oops upside your head came on. Ollie grabbed Zosia and Ali's hands. "Come on Zosia, You love this one." She reluctantly sat down on the floor. As did Ali, she'd never heard the song before and was so confused by the dance but Zosia was laughing so Ali tried to join in. She realised it was the first time she'd heard Zosia laugh since she was out of the hospital. She was  getting better!
