Sam's P.O.V
As I closed the doors to the school, the first words I heard upon entering were, "Welcome ladies." I turned around and noticed that a tall man was standing directly in front of Courtney and me. He looked around six foot, broad shoulders, and his face had a distinct scowl on it. He gave off a powerful vibe, so I'm gonna guess that he's the principal of this school. While I was busy staring at this man, I could hear Courtney say, "Hello sir." I didn't notice that she was bowing until she elbowed me in the side and I looked over at her. "Oh!" I walked over to her and bowed as well. "Sorry sir. Hello."
When we rose back up, I noticed that he had two pieces of paper in his hands. They were both blue and had writing on them. The man cleared his throat and I looked up at his face. "Nice to see that you two at least tried to learn our customs. Very respectful. My name is Mr. David." He handed us the papers and explained what they were. "These are your schedules. Since you two are the only Americans here, we thought that you both should have the same schedule so it would be easier on you." I nodded my head and looked at my schedule. It looked like ours from back home.
Starting from the top we had gym, science, english, math, social studies, and then music. English? Is that like for grammar? Feeling very confused, I decided to ask Mr. David what that class meant. "Excuse me sir, I was just wondering what the English class was about." He laughed and answered my question. "That class is where the students can learn the English language. I bet you are confused as to why we put you two in there." Me and Courtney nodded our heads in unison.
"We put you in there so that you can help the other students learn better. I mean, what better way to learn a language then from your peers." I guess that made sense. It's just that after the accident that happened earlier today, I don't think anyone is gonna wanna talk to me. I was about to ask another question when he interrupted me by clapping his hands together. "Alright," He started. "The first bell is about to ring. I'll walk you both to your first class." He turned around and started to walk down the hallway full of students.
"Well," Courtney spoke up. "What could go wrong?" I laughed and looked over at her. "Thanks for the jinx." She smiled and slung her arm over my shoulders. I slung my arm over her's as well. "You know what?" She asked. "What?" I replied. "No matter what happens, we stick together. We have each other's backs." "Wow." I said. "Whoever told you that sounds like an awesome person." She giggled and ruffled my hair. "Nah fam." We started walking down the hallway, retracing the steps that the principle took.
When we arrived at our first class, Mr. David opened the door and allowed us to enter first. We bowed in appreciation and entered the gym. As we entered, I noticed that class hadn't started yet. Students were sitting on the bleachers talking to one another while the teacher had a clipboard out and was writing something. As I looked back over to the students, I heard a loud slam coming from behind us. "Ah!" I screamed as I jumped in fright. Big mistake. Apparently, on the way to class, my right shoe had become untied. So when I jumped in fright, my left foot landed on my shoe lace and I tripped over my own foot.
"Not again." I heard Courtney sigh before I landed on the floor. This time, I couldn't raise my hands quick enough and ended up landing on my elbow. "It never gets any easier." I hissed. For the second time today, I turned over and sat on my butt. As I looked at my elbow, I could hear the snickers coming from the bleachers. I followed the sound and saw a group of girls sitting together. Four to be exact. They had on the school uniforms, but theirs seemed to be nothing like ours. They were silently giggling, attracting attention from other students. Once they saw what the girls were doing, they started to join in as well. Soon enough, the entire bleacher section was snickering at me.
"I'm sorry about that Ms. Walker. I was just trying to get the attention of the students by slamming the door." I looked over and up and saw that it was Mr. David once again. "I never meant to scare you." He held out his hand for me to take and I did, just wanting this moment to end. "It's fine," I said. "It's not your fault. I just get easily spooked." He looked very apologetic as he nodded his head in understanding. I walked over to Courtney and kneeled down to tie my shoe. Double knotting to be secure. When I rose back up, I looked around the gym for Mr. David and saw that he was exiting through the doors. Alrighty then.
