Thirty Eight

D.O's P.O.V

I became really worried once I sensed how panicked WinWin really was. I could tell that he was in fact telling the truth and not just trying to mess with us. Even though I remained calm and tough on the outside, I was panicking and hurting because I knew that my mate wasn't in good hands and that she was in danger, meaning that I hadn't done my job right. My one destiny and I had failed, I had failed my elders but most importantly, I had failed her, my mate, the one person that I was suppose to protect and care for most in this world. "Kyungsoo" Suho said, snapping me out of my thoughts. I looked up at him and waited for him to speak, but he looked at me in disbelief and disappointment. "Are you kidding me Kyungsoo?" He said, raising an eyebrow at me as he crossed his arms.

"What?" I said, now confused. "Didn't you hear what that WinWin kid just said? Your mate is missing! Shouldn't you even be at least a little bit concerned about her?! If I were you, I would have already ran to look for her but it seems that someone who isn't even her mate is more concerned about her and he is out there trying to find her right now and what are you doing? You are just sitting here, not even the least bit worried" Suho said angrily, making me upset. "Yah! I do care about her, I love her and I am worried about her, I am just trying not to break down right now because what I need most to find her and save her is my strength and showing my weaknesses only brings me down." I said as I got in Suho's face, looking him right in the eyes, causing him to back down.

"And don't you ever say I don't care about that girl" I said as I shoved him into the other boys. He quickly backed off before speaking again. "Okay, I believe you, but we should be trying to find her too, we can't just leave it up to that kid." He spoke as he looked to the ground and started kicking rocks. I started to speak up but I stopped as I heard someone running in the distance. They were getting close and the footsteps sounded like they were in quite a hurry. I looked towards the others to see if they had heard it to and noticed they were all staring in the very same direction that I was looking in. "So you hear that too?" I asked, not looking away from the road. "Of course, how could we not, superhuman hearing remember?" Sehun said sarcastically. I rolled my eyes and brought my focus instantly back to the road as I saw a familiar face coming in our direction. "It is just that WinWin kid again" Lay said, confirming my suspicions. I shrugged it off but began to panic as I slowly looked back in that direction, realizing that he was trying to wave us down.

Without thinking, I started to run towards him, eager to find out what he seemed so panicked about. The others followed after me, calling my name. I guess they thought I was running to attack WinWin but fighting with him was the least of my worries right now, I wanted to get my mate back and show her how much I do want to be with her. I would have showed my feelings and told her about her being my mate already if that WinWin kid hadn't came into the picture. I could tell that despite her bond with me, she had feelings for him as well. I could tell by the way her heart beat would quicken when he came around. I was not about to let someone else step in and take my place in her heart. I needed her to be happy in order for me to survive.

"Yah! WinWin!" I yelled as he stopped in front of me. "It is Courtney, she is in danger" he said while panting from all of the running he had done to get here as quick as possible. "What do you mean?" I said, panicked, realizing that my suspicions had been true. "There is something I may have left out when we talked earlier" he said as he looked down at his shoes to avoid eye contact. "What is it?" I said in an angry tone, annoyed at how he could leave out a detail at such an important time like this, now isn't the time for keeping secrets.

"I may have found her phone on the ground near this cafe in town when I went to look for her and when I went to her house, a text came through that said..." he started to say before I grabbed him by the collar and yelled. "Yah! You found her phone and you didn't think to tell us a detail like that?!" I said as the others pulled me off of him. "I am sorry, the truth is that I wanted to find her myself so I could be her hero and maybe she would fall for me but I realize that it was a stupid idea because she is your mate and she will never love me" he said as he started tearing up. "Kid, you have to calm down, just show us where you found the phone" Suho said. He sniffled and wiped his eyes full of tears before he shook his head and mumbled okay. "But what about the text? What did it say?" I asked as I furrowed my eyebrows.
