Nineteen

Sam's P.O.V
The wind was blowing gently as Courtney and I made our journey back to her house. We were about minutes away from reaching our destination. I looked beside me and saw her fondling with something in her hand. I tried to peer closer but stopped when she quickly balled up her fist. I stared at her face and saw a quick blush appear and then disappear. "What's that?" I asked. She shoved her hand into her pocket and walked quickly ahead. "It's just a grocery list." She responded. I jogged up to her and laughed. "What the hell are you doing with a grocery list?"

She shrugged. "I need food. You know I always eat." She did have a point. Our houses came into view and I sighed in relief. I don't think I could have walked any more. We were silent as we separated to go to our own houses. The only thing that could be heard were the leaves rustling. I grabbed the door handle and tried to turn it. But it was locked. I looked over and saw that Courtney had already entered her house. Strange. I kept twisting the door handle but nothing changed. I huffed and gave up. I quickly walked to Courtney's house and knocked.

She opened the door seconds later. "Yes?" She said. "My door is locked." I pouted. She softly chuckled and motioned for me to come inside. I thanked her with a smile and went inside. Running to the living room, I jumped on the couch and landed on something hard. "Oh my god" I looked below me and saw Ten groaning in pain. "Oh." I gasped. "What's up Ten?" He faced me and gave me a smirk. "I knew I could get you in my lap one way or another." "Ten!" I yelled and rolled off of him into the floor. "Johnny!" Courtney yelled up the stairs. "He's doing it again!" I picked myself off the floor and dusted my clothing. Footsteps came down the stairs and stopped in the doorframe.

It was Johnny. "Don't be a perv Ten." He joked. I sat on the floor and rested my head on the table. Courtney sat beside Ten on the couch while Johnny took his place on a chair. "Can't stop what's not there." Ten replied shortly after. "What's not there?" I retorted with my eyes closed, too tired to open them. "Are you saying you're not a perv?" I replied. I heard a smack and then a groan come from him. Good job Courtney. "Where were you two at? We've been worried." Johnny asked with concern. "We were suddenly pulled into a babysitting job." I calmed him.

"Wow. You have the strength of a wolf or something." Ten complained. "Speaking about wolves, you guys are not going to believe what Courtney and I saw." I rushed out. I opened my eyes to see if anyone was looking at me. They all were. "I'm gonna guess something to do with wolves." Johnny yawned as he placed his arms behind his head. "Bingo was his name-o." Courtney cheered. I face-palmed and mentally slapped her. "Anyways," I continued. "It did have something to do with wolves. And humans. Together." Ten rubbed his chin in thought. "Like a pet shop?" Courtney shook her head.

The room got colder as the wind grew stronger. It was like nature knew what we were about to tell. "We saw a wolf shift into a human teen." I spoke the truth. One. Two. Three. Four. Five. That's how many seconds passed until the room bursted into fits of laughter. Ten was holding his stomach from laughing so hard and Johnny had to catch himself so he wouldn't fall out of his chair. I just looked at them both as did Courtney. "Wow. That's a good one." Johnny breathed as he wiped tears from his eyes. "I don't think I've laughed that hard in forever." Ten agreed. I should've guessed that they wouldn't believe me. "Courtney. Help me out here." I added her in.

The guys looked toward her and waited with smirks on their faces. "Well, what else is there to say? A wolf transformed into a boy." She spoke slowly. They laughed again. "How long have you been working on this joke?" Ten asked. "It's not a joke!" I yelled frustrated. I stood up from the ground and walked towards the door. The longer I stayed in that room the angrier I would become. All three of them were calling me to come back. Once I grabbed the door handle, I twisted it and opened the door. "Ahh!" I screamed. I jumped back and clutched at my chest, my heart beat racing.
