I gave my parents a big big hug before going to bed that night.

"Miss na miss na miss na miss na miss ko kayo."

"Yung abroad mo, magiingat ka dun ah."

"Opo."

"Sigurado naman kami hindi ka papabayaan ni Elmo dun."

"I know."

"O bakit ganyan itsura mo anak?"

"Si Richard po kasi eh."

"Ayaw ka niya umalis?"

"It's not that. Ayaw niya yung kasama ko.."

Natawa sila bigla. "Anak, alam mo yang si Richard, bata pa lang kayo sobrang seloso na niyan."

"So how do I get him to trust me?"

"I don't think naman its about trust iha. Baka ganun lang talaga siya magmahal."

"Dad naman, ang cheesy eh."

"Basta don't worry about it too much, bawi ka na lang sakanya pag balik mo. Diba?"

"Yes po, yun naman po talaga plano ko. Ayaw ko lang po yung nag-dadoubt po siya sakin."

"I think you are thinking too much Menggay. Just do what you have to do, yung pagiging seloso niya has nothing to do with your relationship or you as a partner."

"Iba rin pagiging kampante niyo po sa amin no."

"We saw with our own eyes how you love for each other grew and developed. Richard never looked at any girl the same way. Nor did you look at any guy the same way. It may have took you awhile to realise it, but you only had eyes for each other."

I looked at my parents. "Are you happy?"

"Are you?" Binalik lang nila yung tanong sakin.

"I am, yes."

"Then we are twice as happy."

I gave them a good look. My parents were getting old as well. "I'm sorry it's taking me forever to come back. Kamusta po kayo dito?"

"Iha huwag mo kami isipin, we will support you every step of the way, wherever you may be. When that time comes that you will be ready to move back here, then we will be here to welcome you with open arms."

"I love you guys. I'm sorry kung busy ako with work these days."

"One more thing pala iha."

"Ano po yun, dad?"

"Contrary to your in-laws."

"In-laws agad, dad?!"

"Yes. In-laws." He simply said laughing. "Contrary to what they say, your mother and I, we are not yet ready to become grandparents. So please don't rush."

I blushed, as in I felt all my blood went up to my head, cheeks and ears. "Dad!!!"

My dad just winks at me and stands up laughing.

"Sige na, maaga tayo bukas. Pahinga ka na iha."

"Ma o, si daddy!"

"Hayaan mo na yun, namiss ka lang. Sige na, pahinga na tayo."

I looked over my mom's shoulder and my dad is standing by their doorway waiting for my mom. I rolled my eyes at him. "Night ma, love you."

"I love you too, iha. See you in the morning."

I went into my room and stared at it for a bit. I grew up here. Suddenly my phone rang that made me jump a little. Kung makagulat naman, nag-eemote pa lang ako dito eh.

"Hello?"

"Miss na kita. Pwede bako pumunta diyan?"

"Chard, galing ka lang dito."

"Gusto kita katabi eh."

"Ang landi."

"Bakit, fiancé kita, siguro naman pwede ako mag request na tabi tayo?"

Natawa na lang ako, ang pacute talaga ng taong 'to. "Hayaan mo, pag uwi ko galing States, everyday na tayo magkatabi."

"Promise?"

"Oo, kahit hindi tayo bati, kailangan magkatabi."

Natatawa na rin siya. "Deal. Gusto ko yan. Kahit magaway tayo or whatever, kailangan magkatabi tayo matulog."

"Pwera na lang kung magkaiba shifts natin ah!"

Silence...

"Bukas ha, sundo mo kami nila mommy. Sama daw sila sa pag hatid."

"Yup. Sige. Namiss lang talaga kita kaya ako napatawag. Hindi talaga ako pwede pumunta diyan?"

"Chard, no. Spend time with your family, you're moving out na rin soon."

"Fine. Okay okay."

"Tsaka, baka magsawa ka agad sakin." I joked.

"Hinding-hindi ako magsasawa sayo Meng. Baka ikaw pa nga diyan yung umayaw eh." Masyado namang seryoso 'to.

"Loko lang po, baka magdrama ka diyan. Sige na. I love you, see you tomorrow."

"I love you too. Nag yes ka na sakin, wala nang bawian."

"I know. Wala rin akong balak bawiin. Sige na, rest na tayo."

"Okay okay. See you."

"See you, Chard. Mwah."

Then binaba ko na. I also saw a message from Elmo that I must've received while on the phone with Richard.

I didn't know how to turn down his offer so I just didn't reply and pretended to be sleeping already. Ang lame mo Maine, sobrang lame mo. As if naman forever ko siyang maiiwasan, I just repeat 'professional working relationship' in my head. I know na seloso nga si Chard, so ayaw ko naman iprovoke pa yung tao.

Tama na nga ang pag over think, nag offer lang ng sundo yung tao, kung ano ano na naisip ko. But I still didn't reply to his text.

Nakahiga nako sa bed and found myself staring at the ring. Who knew na sa random visit ko dito, pag alis ko biglang engaged na ako? Natawa na lang ako sa sarili ko, well apparently everyone knew except me.
