Chris.

Two Days Later.

I stood outside of Dani's door, contemplating if I should knock or just walk away. I'm really not trying to be disappointed today.

I took a deep breath and knocked. I felt like a kid getting ready to take a girl on a first date.

She opened the door with a piece of chicken in her mouth.

I shook my head.

"Shut up." She said.

"I didn't say nothing. These are for you." I handed her a vase of flowers.

"Thanks." She took them then walked away from the door and sat the flowers on the table then she sat down on the couch and went back to eating.

I sat next to her and tried to get a piece of her food.

"If you don't move those long ugly ass fingers."

"It's like 15 pieces in there! I can't have one?!"

She stomped her feet, rolled her eyes and smacked her lips.

"Here! Greedy ass."

"That's sad. I'll buy you some more chicken, damn." I grabbed a piece.

She shook her head and went back to eating.

"So what are you doing here?" She asked.

"I just wanted to check up on you and the baby."

"We're fine, how are you?"

"I'm hanging in there. I went to the funeral home to see my dad."

"Really?"

"Yeah, I felt like I needed to do it. They let me sit there for a while. It was just like he was sleep. I just talked to him."

"So how are you feeling about everything now?"

"I mean I still wish he was here but some things you can't change."

"You didn't do anything after you left did you?"

"No Danielle. I'm done with that, I shouldn't have started. I'm supposed to be doing this program with Trent after the funeral."

"With who?"

"You heard who I said."

"So he actually came and talked to you?"

"Yeah and I'm glad he did."

"Everything all good between you guys?"

"Yeah, we good."

"That's good."

"Now I just need to make sure everything is all good between us."

She took a deep breath and started rubbing her hair.

"I know you don't wanna hear the I'm sorries and I know that you hate it when I try to fix things with gifts. I'm just going to fix the shit I did."
