"How much beer does one person need?" Jude wondered dragging his finger across the three cases of beer Connor had gotten from Alex. He sat crossed legged in the middle of the possibly clean bed.
"I had a really long day." Connor spoke from the side of him while laying on his stomach.
"So you needed twenty-four bottles of beer? Well twenty-two." Jude corrected as he noticed the two bottles already gone.
"I just wanted something to take my mind off things." Connor said truthfully.
"You have a really bad drinking promise and you're not even eighteen yet." Connor pulled himself up straight into a sitting position.
"I know you're worried, but I'll be fine."
"I know I just don't want you to do anything stupid or get hurt. I've already seen it once and I don't want to see it happen to you." Jude fiddle with his fingers in his lap. Connor insured Jude with a hug.
"And nothing will. I don't wanna make you worry every time I pick up a bottle. So if it means that much to you, I'll stop drinking." Jude smiled, but it didn't last very long.
Lightning struck the sky along with the booming sound of thunder, the lights in the cheap motel room went out.
"I guess that's our cue to start heading home." Connor said.
"But that's like a three hour drive." Jude whined pulling off of Connor's chest.
"Then what do you wanna do?"
"I want you to stay here and snuggle with me then tell me all about your horrible life without me."
"I guess I could do that." Connor tried to sound depress in his voice's tone. If the room wasn't pitch black you would have been able to see Jude rolling his eyes.
Connor laid flat on his back followed by Jude cuddling into his side as they laid together in the faded room on the bumpy bed.
"Remind me next time to run away to a nice hotel." Connor began shifting on the highly uncomfortable bed.
"How about next time you try not to run away."
"I can't promise that if you try to leave me again."
"But whose fault was it?"
"Mine, but that's not the point. You have to promise me right now that whenever I do another stupid, which we both know is bound to happen, you're not going to leave me. You can throw a pillow at me, slap me, be super mad, hell you can even run me over with a car, but you can't leave me."
"If I do run you over with a car, do you have to survive?" Jude played with his curiosity tone.
"Jude!" Connor screeched.
"Im kidding!" Jude joked. "Well maybe." He said the last part under his breath.
"Just because you say it quietly doesn't mean I can't hear you." Connor dragged himself away from holding Jude and pretended to be sad. He sat and crossed his arms on the edge of the bed.
Jude fixed himself to match Connor's height. He wrapped his arms around his neck. "I really am kidding. I would mess you too much. I love you." Jude moved forward to kiss Connor. He leaned back before having Connor connect their lips together in an electrifying way.
~~~
"Connnnooorrrr!" Jude whined out in Connor's grip. Connor was leaning against the broken headboard with his arms wrapped around Jude while he used his phone. It's now been a full hour since the San Diego storm took out the lights.
"What?" Connor asked not giving his full attention to His boyfriend's call.
"I'm cold."
"Well you left your unicorn blanket in my car, do you want me to go get it?"
"But isn't your car parked in the front."
"Yea so..."
"So, you can't leave me in here alone. Someone might try and take me."
"That's probably the most ridiculous thing you've ever said, but let's go."
Connor lead the other boy outside. Rain pouring hard enough to hurt as it hits you. He grabbed Jude's hands and pulled him close while they walked through the dark.
A flashing light from the sky came down striking the blown out street light next to them. The light was so close it scared the hell out of Connor.
"Ow!" Jude screeched then ripped his hand away. "You don't have to squeeze so hard."
"Sorry, that just scared me." Thunder shook the ground along with taking out the power in the last few motel rooms.
The sound of twigs snapping came from behind them. Jude stepped back into Connor's reach then...
*ACHOO* *ACHOO*
"Are you sure you don't wanna wait inside?" Jude shook his head. Sometimes Connor wished Jude wasn't so stubborn, but that was one of the things he loved about him. "Then take this." He took off his jacket wrapping it around Judicorn.
"I can't take your jacket."
"Yes you can. Besides I don't want to listen to you complain about being sick for the next few weeks."
Finally they reached Connor's car. Before they could open the doors, a couple came out of their room shouting at each other.
"Don't be an idiot. You know exactly why you kissed her." The girl yelled to what they assumed was her boyfriend.
"Why do you think I'm lying? You know what forget this, you always get like this and I'm sick of it." He screamed back. The man started to shuffle away.
"Fine run back to those stupid drunkies you call friends then back to that little hoe who you obviously like better than me."
"Is that what this is all about? You think I like her? Damn. And you call me the idiot? I've been with you for so long you should know by now that I would never cheat."
Jude couldn't take anymore of the couple's fighting. He turned to his own lover as he tuned out the obnoxious pair. "On second thought maybe we should go home."
"Really? What changed your mind?"
"Nothing just I don't want to be stuck out here if the storm gets worse." Connor could see through Jude's lie as he started to hear the arguing couple. He sighed while remembering Jude's and his recent disembarkment.
"I guess you make a good point. Let's go." Connor put the key into the ignition once they got in the vehicle. He started for the Highway while he noticed Jude shivering away in the passenger seat. Connor turned on the heat then stretched his arm to the back seat where he found Jude's blanket then threw it on him.
"Warm enough?" He asked. Jude nodded then finished pulling up the blanket the rest of the way. "So how'd you know I was going to be there?"
"I don't know, something in my mind just told me to check the hotel first."
"Well your mind was completely right." Connor leaned over to kiss Jude with out taking his eyes off the road.
"When is it not?" Jude questioned giving a toothy smile.
