"All we ever talk about is your issues, but what about me? I have problems too." Connor said clearly frustrated. Jude and him were spending quality time with each other before the sudden outbreak.
"I know. What problems do you have?" Jude asked.
"So now you have time to talk to me, after I confront you about it."
"I didn't know you had problems." Jude admits. His voice was low with innocence.
"Of course you didn't! All we ever talk about is you." Jude flinched at Connor's voice raising. It scared him slightly leaving him nervous.
"I'm Sorry." That's all Jude brought himself to say. Although it was only two words, it came out shaky. He avoided Connor's eye contact.
"Sorry? That's all you have to say. You've never once asked me how I was doing after I basically turned down the baseball team for you, Or if I'm okay knowing my mom is in jail. Or how I felt about you kissing my best friend then almost ruining our friendship. Sometimes I wish, I wish-"
"I never existed?" Jude suggested in a whisper. "Yea, I already know that."
"I wasn't going to say that." Connor said feeling guilty for his earlier statements.
"But you were thinking it." Jude seemed to be on the edge of tears. His eyes started to become shinier and glossier. He used his sleeve to wipe some of the escaping water droplets. "I'm gonna go home."
"You don't have to go."
"It's fine. I gotta finish my homework anyways." Jude lied.
"Can I at least give you a ride home? I don't want you walking in the dark."
"I'll be fine." Jude pulled his hood then walked out the room.
Connor walked out his room to the kitchen where he searched the fridge for food. Looking depressed, he sighed.
"What'd you do this time?" Adam questions from the living room. Connor jumped thinking he was alone and barely noticing his dad.
"Why do you assume I did something?" Connor tried not to sound hurt.
"Because I know you, and you haven't been yourself lately. What's up?" Adam made space for Connor to sit on the couch.
"I don't know." Connor announced sitting down. "I've been trying for weeks to figure out what's wrong, but I can't. I can't and it's driving me crazy."
"Well, what do you think it is?"
"That Jude's going to realize he's ten times smarter than me and leave me for someone as smart as him."
"You're plenty smart. Jude loves you enough to know that, but if you really want to keep him happy, you gotta stop lashing out at him for every little thing."
Adam turned off the tv. "Text me if you're going to be out late." He assumed Connor was going to talk to Jude. He carried on moving up the stairs.
Connor ran to room, grabbed his phone, then walked out the door. He sat his car for ten minutes debating if he should go talk to Jude before he started the car.
It took him ten minutes longer than usual to get to Jude's house, considering he took the long way. When he got there, all the lights were turned off.
He made his over to the front door and unlocked it. In he walked flicking the kitchen lights. He continued up the stairs to Jude's room. The room was lit dimly with the lamp that was displayed on his bedside table.
Jude kept to himself on his bed in the corner. He hadn't noticed Connor sneak into his room. His knees were pulled to his chest and he had a book in his hand.
