CHAPTER TWENTY TWO
A Fresh Start

"You and Itachi... are..." Kakashi stares at the pair as if one of them had suddenly grown another head.
"Just do yourself a favour and leave. I'll let you take Gaara's body if you leave and not lay another hand on Deidara." Kana tries to negotiate a deal.
Naruto jumps down from a branch to stand beside Kakashi.
"I can't find Deidara anywhere." Naruto whispers to Kakashi, although the three Akatsuki members hear him.
Definitely their cue to leave and find him.
"Alright, forget that deal. It was a nice reunion, but we have to go." Kana says as she takes the boy's hands and flashes to where she heard a suspicious noise.
They're standing in the middle of nowhere. Kana hears a noise underground and crouches down to get closer to the source.
Deidara's head breaks through the ground.
"Long time no see, Kana." he snickers.
"FUCK! What the hell!?" Kana jumps back in a fright. Deidara completely exits the ground completely and stands up straight. Man, he is a complete mess right now. His face is bloody and bruised and she only now realises that one of his arms are completed severed.
"You look like shit, Deidara." Kana shakes her head from left the right at the sight of her friend's current state.
"You're not looking so great yourself... have you been crying? Hm!? WHY!?" he queries as he gets up in the poor girl's face.
"Yeah, Sasori died."
"WHAT!?"
"I'll explain everything later, I promise. Right now we need to find the rest of the Akatsuki." she says.
"She's right. The sooner we find Pain, the sooner we can set up a new hideout."
"Can you sense his chakra, Kana?" Sasori asks.
Kana nods her head and puts her hands in the tiger seal sign so she can concentrate on blocking out the many other chakras around her so she can find Pain's.
"He's pretty close. Walking distance." she finally says.
"Hm. No teleportation?" Deidara huffs at the thought of having to walk a distance any further than two steps.
"I'm running low..."
Nobody complains or argues with her as they all know how much has gone through both mentally and physically today.

"You've already set up a new hideout? Man, you Akatsuki's work fast." Kana and the rest of the members aside from Pain and Konan stare dumbfounded at the new hideout.
It's hidden directly behind a waterfall. Exactly like the Waterfall of Truth over in the Village Hidden in the Clouds except the only thing behind this waterfall is the new hidden Akatsuki base, rather than a training base for jinchurikis.
"It's amazing in here." her elegant voice echoes through the new base. Kana watches as the water falls before her. She turns around and there is a large open space, probably where most of the meetings will be held. The floor is stone and cement and is almost a replica of the old base that was destroyed. To the far, far left there is an open space kitchen set-up. After a fair amount of walking there is a set of stone-stairs that lead up to the second storey where two bedrooms are. The storey above that has another set of bedrooms and so on until each member has a place to sleep.
"You guys built this, hm?" Deidara asks.
"Yeah, you made this shit? Crazy." Hidan adds.
"Years ago as a backup in case something such as this were to occur." Pain refers to the destruction of the old hidden hideout.
"Everyone, get some rest and be back here tomorrow morning for a meeting."
