62 - War Preparations

CHAPTER SIXTY TWO
War Preparations

"The Akatsuki will be fighting alongside Madara Uchiha in the war." Pain declares to all of the members who stand surrounding their leader for this meeting.

"What war?" Kakuzu instantly asks.

Pain glances at him. "You will know more when necessary. For now, I need each and every one of you to commence preparations. Gather any weapons you will need, master any final jutsu, whatever. I don't care. Just be ready." Pain monotonously demands before turning around and walking away.

"Say our final goodbyes?" is Kana's only question. Reika wiggles around in Kana's arms while remaining in her deep slumber.

Pain comes to a hault and turns back around slowly. His eyes trail to each handpicked member standing before him. "None of you are dying. That's an order." with those final words, he takes his leave.

"I don't know about you guys, but his faith in our survival makes me a little excited." Kana licks her bottom lip hastily. Itachi shakes his head left to right from beside her.

"You're the only psycho I know who would be thrilled about the fourth great ninja war." Sasori shakes his head also, in disbelief at her relaxed attitude.

"What do you have to be afraid of? Hm?" Kana genuinely asks the question.

"Oh, hm, I dunno. Dying?" Deidara's voice is laced with sarcasm. Obviously he's afraid of dying in this war. Who wouldn't be?

"As long as I'm alive, I won't let any of you die. So don't be scared." she announces with certainty.

"That's a ballsy statement from you, as per usual." Deidara grumbles. He's aware that he has been defeated. He knows her, which means he knows she doesn't go back on her word.

Reika squirms slightly in Kana's arms. Her attention is instantly on the little baby. Rei opens her eyes from a nap and looks up at her mama. Her tiny fingers reach up into the air and she looks at her mother and father with her big blue eyes before releasing a loud, short cry.

At the same time their puppy, Thunder, laying on his dog bed in the corner lets out a loud warning bark.

BANG!

Kana leaps backwards with Rei tight in her arms.

Itachi slides protectively in front of them both with a kunai in his hand.

Remaining smoke blows away and reveals two male ninja. They both have Sand Village forehead protectors on with distinct slashes straight through the symbol.

"Rogues?" Kana asks herself out loud.

One of them smirk. "Yeah, and we rogues are looking at some big bags of cash right now."

The other one nods his head, making the blue hair on his head shake. "That baby in your arms is worth the most."

"WHAT!? WHAT KIND OF SICK PERSON PUTS A BOUNTY ON A BABIES HEAD, HUH!?" Kana screams with intense bubbling anger. Her voice doesn't even sound human... it instead resembles a lion's roar.

Despite the ear rattling yell that sent shivers down the men's spine, Rei remains sound asleep in her mommy's strong arms.

"W-Wasn't us." the blue haired one says in fear.

"I don't care. Do I look like I care? I'm going to kill you anyway." she has become so angry that she's calm.

The rogue ninja feel as though they have just come in contact with the devil herself.

"Don't think you get to have all the fun, Kana. I've been training, hm. I vowed I would one day get strong enough to be the one protecting you and Rei. So sit back and watch, my beloved godchild." Deidara moves in front of Itachi who is in front of Kana and Reika. Both of his hands are already dug deep in his dangerous clay pockets. Kana recall those being extraordinary annoying whenever she fights seriously with him. Deidara is without a doubt a strong opponent, and she wants to see exactly what he's become.

"She's asleep." Itachi ruins the moment.

One of the rogue ninja send shuriken towards Deidara to get him out of the way. In response he quickly takes his hands out of his pouches and throws shaped clay at the weapons.

Instead of the shuriken slicing through the clay like expected, Deidara's creation devoures and absorbs the shuriken and continues hurdling uneffectedly at full speed towards the intruders.

Oooh, that's new.
Kana's impressed.

The two are about to jump out of the way but the speed at which Deidara's clay is moving picks up and explodes directly in front of their faces.

Definitely going to leave some burns.

Without hesitation, Deidara dashes forward.

"I've got your back if you need it." Sasori speaks up. He's standing in front of Deidara, behind the men. Meaning, the rogues are smack in the middle of two artists who love clashing when it comes to their ideas of art.

"ART IS AN EXPLOSION. LEAVE WITH YOUR PATHETIC ETERNITY SHIT!" Deidara exclaims as he kicks one in the stomach and punches the other in the nose.

Oh, no.

They're about to have a 'my art is better' fight right now.

"What did a brat like you just dare to say to me?" Sasori is mad.

"UNLESS YOUR PUPPETS EXPLODE, I DON'T WANT YOUR HELP RIGHT NOW!" Deidara throws a kunai at the enemies.

"I'll make your face explode." Sasori replies while taking out the scroll for his Iron Sand using Third Kazekage.

"Don't forget I've got a baby here." Kana calls out from the sidelines.

"Rei Rei! Watch me! Witness your amazing Godfather in action!" Deidara shouts as he throws a smaller version of his C2 dragon at the same time Sasori aims a devastating iron sand jutsu.

Sasori and Deidara aim for each other, forgetting that the two rogue ninja are their real enemies.

"She's still asleep." Itachi says.

A huge explosion occurs right in the centre of the base. Rubble flies everywhere and blood splatters. "Ew," Kana looks down at her stained cloak and the red marks on Rei's blanket.

Reika opens her eyes from her nap and releases an adorable little yawn. "Aw, good morning, Rei." Kana smiles down at the ray of sunshine.

"Now she's awake." Itachi informs Deidara.

"THANK YOU, ITACHI! THANK YOU SO MUCH!" Deidara shouts in annoyance.
