CHAPTER FIFTY FOUR
Unlocking
_________________________

"How did you sleep?" Kana's sudden voice doesn't startle little Raidon. He is happily seated on one of the kitchen stools while munching on cereal. She yawns as she walks up to stand beside him.

"Good! The bed is comfy." he cheerfully responds between spoonfuls.

"Tell me about it. So, how would you feel about doing a bit of training today?" Kana takes a seat beside him. He looks up at her with excitement.

"Please, please, please! I love training!" the widest grin in the universe spreads across the adorable face before her that uncannily resembles young Jiraiya.

I wonder if you fight more like your mother or father." Kana comments to herself with a raised eyebrow.

"You knew my real momma and dadda?"

How the hell does this five year old child know that Akane wasn't his mother, considering she never explicitly revealed it to him?

"You knew that Akane wasn't your real birth momma?" he places the spoon down inside the empty cereal bowl and spins in his stool to face her. His curious hazel eyes stare up into her electric blue orbs.

"Of course." he shrugs.

"You're a smart kid. How did you know?" she queries with interest.

Raidon's small shoulders shrug up and down again. "I never felt... mm, connected to her."

Maybe Raidon will be a prodigy like his parents were.

"How do you know what kind of connection you're meant to feel if you've only grown up with her?" Kana asks just as Kisame happens enters the kitchen. He yawns and stretches his arms out before strolling to the refrigerator.

"Morning," Kisame lazily murmurs while yanking the fridge door open.

"I met my dad once..." Raidon admits.

"Interesting," Kisame cackles while shutting the fridge door to pay attention to the two's suddenly interesting conversation.

"You met Jiraiya? When?" Kana questions quickly.

"Akane was out hunting for fish. I was really really young at the time... but I remember being really really happy when he said he was my dad. And I knew he was telling the truth coz' of his long spikey white hair!" Raidon answers while swinging his legs above the ground. "Are we gonna go train now!? Do I get to go outside!?" he jumps off the stool excitedly.

Kana nods. "Y-Yeah." she says. "Let's go."

They walk together to front area of the base so they can get outside. More forest surrounds them and Raidon instantly grins in delight at the greenery. He runs around until he looses his energy and plops down in front of Kana and Kisame.

He rubs his closed eyes. "I'm tired." Raidon then lets out a dramatic yawn.

"We haven't even started training yet! Who asked you to run around till you got so tired, huh!?" Kana karate chops him on the top of head with a 'bonk!' and the boy holds his throbbing head.

"S-Sorwwy." he pouts and looks away.

It reminds her of the stories she heard about Jiraiya when he was a young, stubborn boy. Just like this.

TOO CUTE!
Internal Kana screams.

"It's okay, Raidon." she sighs. "Tell me what kind of training you did with Akane."

He thinks hard. "Not much... but she did say I have a strong punch!" the little one swings his small fists against the air.

"Really, now?" she responds with a smirk and clear interest.

Kisame takes a seat under a tree and watches them from afar.

"Go ahead and punch that tree as hard as you can." she demands and points to a tree trunk far away. Raidon nods and sprints towards the large tree, swinging his right arm backwards, then throwing it into the bark with as much power and force he can possibly muster.

The gigantic tree shakes for a moment before completely collapsing due to the sheer force behind his punch.

Kana's eyes widen and Kisame chuckles. "Reminds me of you, Namikaze." he calls out.

"Well, Akane wasn't lying. You have a mean right hook, kid." she praises. Raidon grins and rushes up to her for more praise. She ruffles his hair and smiles down at him.

"Can you punch hard?" he asks innocently.

Kana grins and throws her fist straight in the air.

He frowns and looks up at her with disappointment. "You didn't hit any-"

The tree Kisame is sitting comfortably under snaps in half and starts to fall onto the poor fishman. "WOW, THANKS, KANA!" Kisame shouts sarcastically before jumping out of harms way.

The tree slams into the ground and shakes the earth.

Raidon's eyes shine with excitement as he tears his eyes away from the destruction and looks back up to her face. "Teach me, teach me!" he pleads.
