"So, how's Orochimaru behaving?" Obito speaks to Pain, Konan and Kana. The four stand in their base within the Hidden Rain Village as they discuss important matters regarding the Akatsuki. Kana stands beside Pain, fiddling with her hands as she tries to distract herself from their boring conversation.
"Unremarkable so far. He's rather quiet." Pain responds.
Obito says, "Even Orochimaru, with Pain keeping a keen eye out can't take any main action." as he turns from watching the rain and walks towards the three.
"By the way, Madara... the member you brought in earlier, Kisame Hoshigaki, has been teamed up with Itachi." Konan informs. Kana's ears perk up at Itachi's name. Maybe she will get to see him again today.
"Yes, that's fine. Eventually, we'll have the others form teams, too. That's why we need another new member..." Obito explains his plan.
Konan asks, "So, who's next?"
"Deidara, the rogue ninja of the Hidden Stone Village. Bring him in and team him up with Sasori." Obito turns his head to face Kana. "Kana, you, Itachi and Sasori will go get Deidara."
"Sure." Kana replies with a swift nod of her head. Leaving behind nothing but a bright flash of yellow, the teenage girl disappears from sight to commence her mission.
Kana appears inside the regular Akatsuki base. She dusts off her new cloak and smiles down at the red cloud pattern she now wears. An Akatsuki mission with Itachi. Today is her lucky day.
"Kana." the sudden voice startles the young girl and makes her release a squeal of surprise.
"I-Itachi..." she stutters nervously. The Uchiha is seated on the couch with one leg crossed over the other, the open book in hand resting on his thigh. Itachi immediately closes the book and rests it beside him before standing up and walking over to her.
"What are you doing here?" his eyes trail up and down her body as he takes notice of the Akatsuki cloak.
It looks very good on her. Itachi finds himself thinking as he observes the colours against her fair skin.
Kana didn't realise how much she longed to hear his voice again until this very moment.
She coughs softly to cover up her unparalleled happiness before responding, "I was ordered to recruit a new member named Deidara alongside you and Sasori."
"I see," he acknowledges her words, yet his attention seems to be elsewhere. "Did you do something to your hair?"
"I... um... I cut it." she picks up a few random strands and shows it to him.
Itachi reaches forward and does the same, picking up a few strands of her blonde hair and gazing mindlessly at it.
He murmurs, "I like it.", softly. Kana stares at Itachi with slightly parted lips. With his attention fixated on her new hairstyle, she takes a moment to simply stare at the boy before her. His face is nothing short of incredible, matching his attractive personality. Itachi's quiet compliment makes Kana want to giggle like a little girl.
Itachi releases her hair and directs his gaze to her blue eyes. "How are you?" he asks. The pair haven't seen each other in months.
"I'm good... just a bit tired, though." she answers. "How are you?"
"Hmm, also good. I wish we could have seen each other sooner than this, however." he says.
At Itachi's gentle, honest words, Kana melts. Her stomach erupts with enthusiastic butterflies and her heart beats faster.
