CHAPTER THIRTY NINE
Kill or be Killed

"We're about to collide head first with them." Karin informs her teammates. Sasori drops down from the branch into the bushes below and Karin remains beside Kana.
A kunai speedily emerges from the trees in front of them aimed directly at Karin's face. Before it touches her, Kana reaches out and grabs it.
"Karin, you made the wrong decision leaving our team." Sasuke says as he comes into view along with Jugo and Suigetsu.
"So nice to see you again too, Sasuke." Kana sarcastically remarks with an eye roll.
"Where's Itachi?" Sasuke ignores her comment.
"Déjà vu. You asked me that exact same thing last time we met. Remember what I said?"
Sasuke laughs. "But last time my brother was here to protect you. Who's going to protect you from me now?" he grins.
"Oh, Sasuke. I think you have it mixed up. You should be more worried about who is going to protect you from me." she clenches the kunai in her hand and a crack forms. She throws it aside.
"Chidori." Sasuke's palm is filled with lightning.
"Chidori." Kana mimics his actions.
He doesn't move.
"Come on, baby Uchiha. You scared now?" Kana taunts him.
Sasuke charges straight at her. Kana waits until he is close to switch her lightning chidori to a perfectly formed rasengan. "Just kidding," she chuckles as her rasengan collides with his chidori.
They jump back simultaneously to avoid being destroyed by the big explosion.
"Tsk. It's just like fighting Naruto." he complains.
"Like aunty like nephew." she responds.
"Kana, you know I'm going to find Itachi and I'm going to kill him. I hold no grudge against you, in fact, I respect you... but if you get in my way I have no choice but to kill you too." he says.
Before Kana has a chance to reply Sasori's caught everyone off guard by spraying sharp, slicing water around the place. He's slicing the trees that Sasuke and his team are standing on.
He jumps up from his previous hiding position to stand beside Karin and Kana.
"Suigetsu." Sasuke calls upon his comrade.
"Got it." Suigetsu grins and dives straight towards the floor of the forest. His arm grows double in size as he swings his blade down with all of his strength. The ground crumbles and cracks everywhere. Trees begin to fall and aid in destroying the battleground even more.
"Shit!" Kana curses at the destruction.
Suigetsu appears before her with his blade swinging. Kana flips to the side and grabs a kunai out from the ninja kit tight around her thigh.
"You're going to take on my Executioner's Blade with a kunai?" Suigetsu asks in amusement as he straightens up with the large blade in his hand.
"Why don't you come find out." she steadily lowers into a fighting stance despite the earth continuing to shake. She is holding the kunai close to her with her right hand and her left hand is extended straight out in front of her. Kana lifts her index finger and motions for him to come forward. Like she's daring him to try an attack.
Karin jumps back to stay out of the way and Sasori heads straight to battle Sasuke one on one.
Suigetsu slashes recklessly with the Executioner's Blade, simply trying to land a hit on her without even thinking about his movements. So sloppy.
