36 - Sweet or Sour

CHAPTER THIRTY SIX
Sweet or Sour

All of the members walk together through the forest to get back to their hideout. They make their way through the bush to a large open space which they continue through.

"Oi!" at this sudden outburst they all turn around.

"The whole Akatsuki? Looks like we're in luck today. Each of you rogue ninja are worth a whole lot of money." an unknown man says, pointing his kunai at the group.

"Who is this idiot?" Kana asks. Her chin is lifted slightly and everyone can tell she is getting irritated.

"I don't know." Pain responds, almost granting permission for her to do what she wants with the arrogant stranger.

"Come on out boys!" their new enemy exclaims. A few hundred more people exit the bush behind him. Each wear  the same village headband and seem eager.

Not a single Akatsuki member bat an eyelash or flinch.

"Aren't ya scared?" the man sneers childishly. From his chakra and stature, it is clear that this ninja has absolutely no idea who he is messing with. If he did... he wouldn't speak to them the way he currently is. Kana is going to have to shut that disrespectful mouth.

"I don't like him." Kana snarls back nastily.

"Same." Hidan stands beside her.

"STOP TALKING LIKE I'M NOT EVEN HERE!" he screams from across the field.

"Kana, have you got this?" Pain questions nonchalantly.

"Sure." she shrugs and cracks her knuckles. "Come on, Hidan. It's been a while since you sacrificed to Lord Jashin, right?"

"Ooh, fuck man. Itachi, you might have some competition on your hands. I like me a girl who respects Lord Jashin." Hidan jokes as he draws out his scythe from behind him.

"Watch it, Hidan." Itachi comments.

A devious smirk covered both Hidan's and Kana's face at the thought of all the fun they are about to have. Hidan charges forward and starts slashing through bodies while screaming about 'punishment' and 'worship'.

"Chidori!" Kana forms a chidori in her hand and using her other one she creates a shadow clone. Another Kana appears. "Lightning cable." she says and a stream of lightning appears connecting between the two Kana's. The clone and her sprint in opposite directions until the cable lines from one side of the field to the other.

She runs at the group of men and before they even have time to comprehend how fast she's moving, or what she is doing, they have already been sliced in half.

"Hidan! Watch the air!" she calls out. Hidan nods and jumps up, swinging his scythe everywhere to kill off anyone that tries to jump out of the lightning cable's range.

A few seconds later Kana and Hidan have cleared the entire field with hundreds of bodies sprawled across the grass.

Itachi appears behind Kana with a 'poof'. He wraps his arms around her waist and pulls her closer. "You didn't get hurt, did you?" he picks up and examines her small hands with his larger ones for any injuries. His head is comfortably resting in the crook of her neck. The cute display of affection makes almost everyone smile.

"I'm fine." she giggles. "Let's go home."

Neither of them notice Hidan watching with a sour expression.
