a/n: last filler, swear on my life! next chapter is canon ooooooh get excited.

"It's been a few days. I wonder if Naruto's found out about Jiraiya Sensei yet." Kana comments as she weaves her fingers through Itachi's soft hair.

"Hmm," Itachi hums in response. His eyes are glued to the book in his hands. Kana is sitting on the couch with him seated between her legs on the floor while she braids his hair. His silky locks fall gracefully between her fingers.

Kisame peeks his head from around the corner, takes a picture, then runs away to show everyone.

"Itachi," Kana murmurs. "Can we get a puppy?"

"No. It would be an inconvenience." he replies without a second thought.

An instant pout covers her face. She tugs on his hair so his head falls back and he's staring up at her. Slowly, she leans forward and glides her lips along his teasingly. 

"Please? For me?" she whispers.

"Don't do that." he says.

"What?" she innocently asks.

"You think that every time you say 'Please? For me?' I'll do whatever you say. Well, not this time."

"..." Kana is silent for a moment.

"Please? For me?" she repeats with sad eyes.

"Okay. What kind of puppy are we getting?"

"Pain!" Kana squeals as she runs into the base.

Pain turns around to look at her. "What is that?"

"A PUPPY!" she excitedly holds out the tiny fluffy dog to him. The adorable white fur coated puppy pants and softly lets out a playful bark.

"Get it away from me." he insists.

Kana persistently shoves the puppy further into his face.

His rinnegan eyes stare into the dog's giant puppy-dog orbs. He tries his hardest to stand his ground.

"Fine." Pain finally admits.

"Fine what?" Kana pushes.

"It's cute."

Deidara slides out from around the corner. "DID I HEAR YOU SAY PUPPY!?" he stops dead in his tracks. "It's..."

He pauses. The room falls silent.

"IT'S SO CUTE!" he cries out and starts petting the white furred husky. The tiny blue eyed puppy whines happily at the affection and attacks him with kisses and licks. "What's his name?" he asks as the puppy licks his cheek repeatedly.

"Thunder." she answers.

"I like it." Deidara comments as he scratches behind the little husky's ears. "How did you pick thunder?" he asks curiously.

"We just thought it sounded cool." she shrugs nonchalantly.

Kana fiddles with Thunder's paws as he dozes off to sleep on her upper stomach.

"Deidara asked how we picked Thunder as his name. I told him it just sounded cool, not because Jiraiya sensei's name translates to Young Thunder in English." she chats with Itachi.

"Probably for the best. Deidara would start asking questions and not stop until they're all answered." Itachi crawls onto the bed and Kana stands up and lets the dog out to roam free around the large base. The waterfall entrance provides Thunder with water and he can't get out without the jutsu to part the water. He'll just feel like there's a large wall in his way.

She jumps into bed under the covers with Itachi. Her face nuzzles close to his chest and the sound of his heartbeat fills her with warmth.

The secret reason why Itachi and Kana are always holding hands is so they can feel each other's heartbeat. If both of them concentrate they can feel it and for some reason, that calms them in even the worst of situations.

"Have you thought about the whole Tobi thing?" Kana questions as she thinks about it herself.

"Yeah. You?" he replies.

"Yeah."

"We can't run away. No matter where we go, he will always be able to find us." Itachi says.

"I know, but remember what he needs. All of the tailed beasts. Naruto will not go down without a fight regardless of any circumstances. I don't know the other jinchuriki, but hopefully they're the same."
