Kana pauses and sniffs hard at the air. "He smells close." she informs Itachi, who does not respond.

Just as she is about to jump forward to the next branch up ahead, she feels a pair of warm hands from behind slither around her waist. Kana remains still and accepts the familiar touch.

Itachi lets out a heavy breath of air.

He puts his chin on her shoulder while they both stay still for a moment and simply enjoy being alone together for this short while.

"I love you." is all he says. His voice is soft and saddened.

Kana turns around to face him and leans up for a kiss. "Don't tell me you love me it's the last time you will ever get to. It's only our first battle of the war, baby. Tell me you love me when the war is over and we're holding Rei and everything is perfect. Neither of us are going to die, Itachi. I love you too much to leave you, and I hope you feel the same."

Itachi nods, his sadness faded, replaced with sheer unbreakable confidence.

"Let's go." he announces.

"WHERE IS HE!? TELL ME RIGHT NOW OR I SWEAR TO GOD I WILL RIP YOUR HEAD OFF!"

Itachi peers over his raging girl's shoulder at the terrifying Sunagakure ninja beneath her. "I've watched her do it before. She is not joking." he glances at Itachi with widened eyes.

"I-I think I saw a reanimated water style user on the l-left." he stutters in fear.

The poor young boy believes he's about to die at the hands of this crazy Akatsuki girl.

"Okay. Thank you so much. Stay safe, now!" she climbs off him and tugs him onto his feet. Kana brushes some dirt off his shoulder and walks away with Itachi.

"You scared the hell out of him, Kana. He's on the good side, remember?" Itachi reminds her.

Kana puts up her index finger. "Exactly!" she exclaims.

Itachi looks at her questioningly.

"I just scared the hell out of that little twerp. He probably doesn't think he will ever see anything scarier in his life. So, now, he'll go fight anyone and everyone, and just thank the heavens it's not me."

... is the mother of my daughter a genius, or is she psychotic?

"Plus, it was fun." she winks.

Psychotic. Itachi confirms in his thoughts.

The pair approach the coast of the Land of Lightning where they heard the loud bangs earlier. Kana confirms that this is where she can sense that annoying water style ninja.

Kakuzu and Kisame come into view. Their intense and powerful jutsu's crash and explode, causing sand to fly everywhere. Innocent village ninja's bodies collapse and fall everywhere they turn.

While holding Itachi's hand Kana flashes to Kisame. He stops his sign weaving and turns to the pair. "Hello, Kana, Itachi." he greets with a smile. "Did you successfully stop Naruto and deliver him to Kabuto?" he queries.

"We didn't end up crossing paths with Naruto. As soon as I sensed that the ninja who took my sight was reanimated, we came straight here." Kana explains before a kunai flies towards them and she has to tilt her head back slightly to avoid being stabbed in the cheek.

"Stupid Akatsuki! I'll kill you all!" a small blue haired kunoichi kneeling beside all of her injured and dying comrades shouts.

"Shut up! I'm talking!" Kana sends her own kunai straight back. The girl ducks down and narrowly avoids it, thinking it was for her. The kunai pierces into her fallen comrades neck and blood pours out.
