*I know that Naruto's birthday is meant to be at the end of the war, but I needed a chapter and this was my favourite idea so just roll with it! XX*

Kana opens her eyes and lets out a loud yawn. She rolls onto her side and extends her arm, expecting to feel Itachi's warm body. Instead her hand comes in contact with an empty bed.

"Huh?" she sits up straight and Itachi is nowhere to be seen. She looks at the bedside table and sees a dozen freshly blossomed red roses in a vase filled with water. Beside it is a small and neatly handwritten note.

Kana rolls out of bed and picks up the note.

Kana,

Happy birthday. I'll be back soon.

Love always, Itachi.

Kana smiles brightly as she bends down and smells the roses. How did he even know it was her birthday? She hadn't mentioned it to anyone. He never ceases to amaze her.

Kana cracks her neck and stretches her body as she walks down the hall to the bathroom. She manages to get halfway there before she is tackled to the ground.

"Ahh!" she screams as her butt hits the cold floor with a thump.

"HAPPY BIRTHDAY, KANA! HN!" Deidara embraces her in a warm hug.

"Thank you, Deidara!" she giggles at his enthusiasm. He pulls out a box of chocolates and passes it to her with excitement written all over his face. She gives him another quick hug. "You didn't have to, but I appreciate it."

Kana gets up off the ground and proceeds to get to the bathroom. "I'll see you in a bit! Oh, and don't tell everyone. I don't want it to be a big deal that today's my birthday." she calls out over her shoulder as she shuts the door.

Kana brushes her teeth and combs through her hair and hops in the shower. After she is dressed in a tank top and track pants, she smiles at herself in the mirror.

Today's gonna be a good day.
She thinks to herself.

She steps out of the bathroom and heads to the main area of the base with a bubbly attitude.

As Kana steps through the passageway to the living room, she is greeted immediately.

"Happy birthday Kana!" everyone shouts. Kana stares at Deidara who is standing sheepishly in the corner.

"Oops, un." she says sheepishly.

Kana laughs and pulls everyone in for a hug. "Thank you, guys."

"So what are you going to do today?" Kisame asks. Kana taps her chin with her finger and thinks hard.

"I'm not quite sure. What's something fun we can all do?" Kana asks. She wants to spend today with all of them.

"It's up to you." Sasori says.

"Pain, do you know where Itachi is today?" Kana asks, feeling a bit sad that the love of her life isn't around on her twenty first birthday.

"Sorry, Kana. I only realised it was your birthday after I had already sent him out on a mission."

A few gasps are heard. Pain just... Apologised.

"It's okay!" she smiles reassuringly. "and I think I know what I want to do today."
