"You might have to fight a battle more than once to win it."

-Louis's POV-
I looked over to Mackenzie and Niall, he was crying, mumbling his thanks to her. He obviously liked his surprise. Being the softhearted one he is, he started crying at the surprise, his love for the fans overwhelming him.
The other boys were distracting the fans and giving them their moment by signing various things and taking pictures with them. Liam was hugging a cute little girl. Zayn was signing so many papers his hand probably was aching from the strain. And Harry? Well.....Harry was paying little attention to the fans, twisting his hands in his lap nervously and checking his phone constantly, just as he had been for the last week.
I caught Liam's attention and threw a concerned gaze over to Harry, who didn't even look up. He was staring at the wall in agony, the expression painted on his face breaking my heart and ripping it to shreds. He looked up and smiled at the fans fakely as he signed another autograph, but when they had left Harry swallowed visibly and looked at the floor with a hurt expression on his face.
Liam gave me a slight nod in Harry's direction as if to tell me to go help him. Nodding slowly, I slipped away from the many fans trying to capture my attention.
Harry's usually strong shoulders were weak and hunched over when I made my way over to him. He jumped when I touched his shoulder, as if he was afraid of me. His eyes were a shade of washed out green, not the usual mesmerizing color they usually were.......
"Haz.....you okay?" I whispered, rubbing my thumb across his shoulder. He didn't answer, his eyes moving back and forth as if he was thinking about something.
"Harry?" I mumbled, playing with a stray curl that fell in his face. He glanced up at me, a tear rolling down his cheek. I quickly swiped it away, glancing at the girls with cameras literally two feet from us.
"I can't make it without her....." he mumbled, his raspy voice shaking uncontrollably. I pulled him up quickly to my side before hugging him tightly.
"Not here you don't." I whispered as I felt his body shake with the effort from holding in the crying. Liam gave me a look and I nodded before leading Harry out of the room quickly and pulling him into the hallway, towards a back exit. I glanced over at him, gripping his hand tightly as I saw the horrible tears rolling from his eyes.
"Put these on. Keep your head down." I whispered gently, shoving my hat and sunglasses at him before wiping his wet cheeks. There would be nothing worse than him seeing the headlines the next morning if he was crying in front of the paps and fans.......
"What....about you?" He stammered, another tear falling down from behind the glasses. I wiped it away and shook my head, waving him off.
"I'll be fine." I replied as I gripped his hand tighter, opening the door to the outside. As soon as I did, I regretted it. The screaming invaded my senses and the camera flashes blinded me as we both pushed through the crowd quickly. My coat was ripped off, Harry lost his shoe, and I was starting to get mad as we finally reached the bus, I pushed Harry inside before me, climbing the stairs after him and shutting the door and locking it behind me, ensuring our safety.
As soon as I got inside, Harry was already collapsed on the floor, sobbing into his hands. Sighing, I grabbed his shoulders from behind and rubbed his back, trying to make him stop shaking. He wouldn't. He sobbed even harder into his hands, not letting me calm him down like usual. He's been holding it in for so long. And Harry barely cries in front of people......sometimes only one tear, then he stops, but I've never seen him cry like this. Never. He usually gets mad. Screaming at himself until his face turns red, occasionally shedding some tears. But it's not usually this bad.........
"Hazza....." I whispered, crouching down next to him and pulling him into my arms. He grabbed a hold of me quickly, burying his face into my chest and getting my shirt wet with his tears. I was startled at his sudden movement, and it knocked me backwards onto my butt, his face landing in my.... area....
Mumbling a muffled, crying apology, he moved his head into my lap, instead crying into my jeans. "We can't worry about something we don't know H......" I whispered, playing with his soft curly hair. He looked up at me slowly, and swallowed, wiping his face quickly with his palms.
"I....I know that...but I just cant help it....." he mumbled, his voice incredibly raspy, and his accent so strong, I could barely understand him.
"She will be alright." I whispered, rubbing his arm gently. He looked up at me with a pleading expression, his green eyes incredibly bloodshot.
"Y....you promise?" He stammered. My heart squeezed, and I closed my eyes tightly, knowing very well I couldn't promise him that. As I looked down at my best friend, I noticed that he was broken. When I was broken, he always glued me back together.....when.....Alexa had her miscarriage, he put us both back together. I owe him the world. And he deserves to have his girlfriend back......
"Harry.......you know I can't-"
"Louis....just say you promise....."He whispered, his gaze pleading and broken. "Just....just say it...." he mumbled, burying his face back into my lap. I sighed, touching his hair gently.
"I promise...." I whispered, knowing very well that this could either be disastrous, or......well...disastrous.
Harry looked up at me, a tear falling down his face. "Thank you boo bear..." his raspy voice croaked. I nodded slowly, before moving backwards slightly and standing up, before holding my hand out to him.
We had an earlier concert today, so it had gotten done at 7. Even though it was only 7:30....Harry looked beat.
"C'mon...." I called, giving him a hand up. He swayed a bit when he stood, as if he was dizzy from all the crying.
I supported him with my hand around his waist and his arm around my shoulders, as he was much taller than me. Everyone was......yep....still haven't grown over here....
I pulled him over to his bunk and he climbed in. I tucked him in like a child and kissed his forehead, giving him my iPad to watch movies if he so pleased.
I started to walk away when he got my attention again, wiping his face an sniffling so that I turned back around. "Lou?" He whispered. I rose my eyebrows in question and he smiled at me sadly.
"You're my best friend." He whispered, making me smile and shake my head.
"Go to sleep." I replied, moving my hair away from my face. He chuckled as I threw my blanket at him, effectively shutting him up.
"I love you." He called as I walked away. I shook my head, but still yelled that I loved him back. Because I do. He's like my little brother. And I'll protect him at all costs.....
I crashed on the couch out in the living area, stealing Harry's blanket, as he was using mine, totally exhausted from tonight, and this whole week basically. Alexa and I had been talking on the phone non stop and all through the night lately. I didn't want her to get too stressed and..mostly, I wanted her to know that I was here whenever she needed me.
I slowly picked up my phone and called her immediately, knowing very well I hadn't talked to her all day.......her phone rang about 6 times before it went to voicemail. I knew it was the same time there, as we were only in Canada. I frowned, hanging up and sending her a text instead.
Louis😘- Hey baby? You okay? Haven't talked to you all day...I've been super busy. Sorry....how's Kendall? Call me when you get this. :)
I tried calling her once more, to no avail and finally fell asleep on my phone, waiting for her to call.
