Hola folkies! How we doing?

So at school, we are doing a poem unit. Yay... Feel the sarcasm.

Anyway, so this is my poem.

If you have any input or suggestions on it, please comment and tell me what they are.

And don't sugarcoat it. I don't believe in sugarcoating.

Once upon a time.
The beginning of all of Earth's stories,
But hardly noticed at all.
Never understood.
That sweet smell of rain,
And the sour tangy scent of blood,
That you can sense when you read,
The unspoken words.
That manilla paper,
Typed with a black crow ink,
That opens us up to a whole new world,
Unlike anything we've ever seen...
In this dull grey world of ours.
How much it impacts us,
Time after time,
Over and over,
Since the beginning.,
For books are like dreams,
They can make you utterly free.
You can climb the highest mountain,
Or swim in the deepest seas.
You can go into a tale in London,
With swords unsheathing,
And wizards muttering incantations.
Bliss...
In the form of,
Words.
The tomes never speak,
And yet...
You understand them more,
Than anyone you'll ever meet.
And books have that heart wrenching sadness,
When you realize,
Like a dagger penetrating your chest,
One of the friends you've never met,
Won't live to take another breath.
Books have that...
Heart pounding,
Eye catching,
Mind numbing,
Heart stopping,
Quality that all of the great volumes have acquired.
Stories help you see clearly,
Like a wand illuminating through the darkness around you,
That there is so much more to this universe than what you've been told,
That there are millions upon billions of creatures in the world,
All of whom,
Will tell you their story,
If you choose to listen.

Anyway, that's my poem. Thanks for reading!

Puff out.
