Book Bragging

Hi, guys! How are you doing? Pretty groovy, I hope, as it is always groovy to be groovy.

Anyway, this part is about book bragging.

I'm not going to lie, I read a lot. And I like telling the world that. For example, if I finished a book the last weekend, and now I'm starting a new book that I am excited about, I would say that to someone as my 'highlight of the weekend'.

But the thing is, I have a life outside of books, such as school, Dance, Wattpad, homework, etc. So, I do not have all the time in the world to read.

Anyway, there is this girl in my PLTW class (a specialized engineering class) who has read about 80 books so far this school year. And talks about it a lot.

Normally, I would say things like, 'that's great', or 'what are some of the best books you've read' (the usual conversationy stuff), and I would be super impressed. But the thing is, she is reading books that are at least three grade levels beneath her.

She is reading books like 'A Series Of Unfortunate Events' and other books that I read in about third grade. And I honestly would have no problem with it, but she only reads books like that, and she talks about how impressive it is a lot.

Also, it is scientifically proven that if you read too many books beneath your level of reading, you can decrease your level of reading.

It just bugs me a little bit that people are so impressed that she is reading like a book a day, when there are other people (such as myself) who are actually reading challenging books that do something for us.

I am reading Agatha Christie's (which are amazing by the way), I am reading books like 'Hidden Figures' (not the dumbed down kid version, like the actual original book) and 'Darkest Hour' (I recommend this one too), and I am currently reading 'Pride and Prejudice' by Jane Austen.

It just really bugs me that people think that hers is more impressive than mine.

And no, I am not looking for praise, I am just looking for fairness.

Quality over quantity, folks.

And I know that this really isn't a super pressing dilemma in our society today, but I really think that the best way to change the world in a big way, is to start fixing small things.

(Side note:

DO NOT DOG-EAR YOUR PAGES. I WILL FIND YOU. I WILL HUNT YOU DOWN. DO NOT DOUBT MY WORD.

THIS IS GOING TO SOUND SUPER CLICHED, BUT IT IS NOT A THREAT. IT IS A PROMISE.)

Anyway, thanks for reading, guys. I really appreciate it!

Puff out.
