"Soda, it's almost 7 and he's not even here." I said sitting down on the couch next to my best friend, Sodapop.
He came over to keep me company because my ever absent parents decided to ditch me and move away.
"Hope, he's not going to stand you up. If you know him at all you know that you're the only person that he truly cares about." Soda completed rubbing my back.
"And besides, your guys date isn't set till 7, right?" Soda questioned.
"Well, yeah, but he's normally a few minutes early. He asked me to leave his place and get ready at mine even though all my stuff is at his and he sent me here and he knows I hate being alone....."
"Hey, hey, hey, calm down. I know what going on, I can't tell you cause it's a surprise. I can guarantee that he isn't going to kick you out. Trust me, I know." Soda said interrupting my rant.
I really let what Soda just said sink in. A surprise? I wonder what it is, Dally isn't the type for surprising me. I never figured out why, but he is normally really straight forward.
I was shook out of my thoughts when I heard the doorbell ring. I stood up and rushed to the door, trying not to trip over my bare feet.
"Oh my God you're here!" I said after I opened the door.
I hooked my arms around his neck a gave him a hug, holding on for dear life.
"Babe, what's wrong?" Dallas asked lifting my chin.
"Oh no it's nothing really. Don't worry about it." I said realizing how much I had over reacting.
"Okay well, you look beautiful." Dallas said leaning down and kissing me.
Wow, I must look really good. Dallas never said I look beautiful or anything like that. I knew he loved me, but I also knew he was sure I knew that I was pretty. You gotta be good lookin' to be with Dallas Winston.
"Hey, you ready?" Dally asked snapping me out of my trance.
"Oh yeah sorry. I'm ready." I said slipping on my shoes.
Dallas grabbed my hand and escorted me out of my house. He opened the passenger door of his car silently, then walked hurriedly to the driver's side and got in.
We started driving to an unknown location because the whole date was a surprise.
"Hope, will you please tell me what was with your reaction when I got to your house." Dallas asked as he flicked a cigerette but out of the window.
"Really, it's nothing." I lied
He looked at me disbelieving.
"Babe, I know your lieing. Just tell me, I can sense it's bothering you." He said as he grabbed my thigh with his free hand.
I sighed and thought about what I was going to say.
"Well, I was done getting ready around 6:45 and you weren't there yet and I was getting really nervous that you were going to stand me up. Then I really read into you asking me if I could go to my house to get ready, even though you know that I hate it there. I don't know, I convinced myself that you weren't gonna show and that you were gonna break up with me." I finished almost in tears.
Dally looked at me with one of the softest faces he had ever had. Even softer than the looks he gave Johnny.
"Baby, why would you think that. I love you more than anyone in my life. And about making you go to your place to get ready, I'm real sorry about that. I didn't mean for it to go across like that. I did it cause well.. I can't tell you. It's a surprise." Dallas completed and looked at me with a 'don't be mad at me look'.
