The beautiful beach on Santa Barbara brings a warm feeling to my heart. A happy grin spreads its self along my face, because, of course, I'm home. I'm back in place I grew up; the place that, for me, holds some of the most precious memories.

I close my eyes for a second and inhale the fresh air coming from the open window beside me as I drive. I pass so many familiar places on my way. Mo's Cafe, The Corner Coffee Counter and Santa Barbara's Best Breakfasts were just few of the places I used to go when I lived here. It was also weird to see how nothing much had changed.

As I pulled up outside Alex's four bedroomed house that she lived in with her mom and now step dad - after her parents divorced a couple of years ago - along with her little step-sister Kiera and her older step-brother Sean, I pressed on the horn to let her know that I was here. It was only a couple of seconds later that her face appeared through the door, her hand waving over at me excitedly. She had her dark hair pulled back into a pony tail, and I noticed that her eye make up was a little heavier than it used to be. She looked comfortable in a grey oversized t shirt that matched well with her white jeans and black converse, whereas I sat in a baby pink peplum style top and a pair of denim blue skinny jeans that clung tightly to my legs. My hair curled naturally down my back.

"Nice wheels girl!" Alex says when she climbs into my car, eyeing the leather seats and touch stereo that was at the minute playing Hold On Were Going Home by Drake.

"Thanks. It's so good to see you," I squeel like a child before we embrace in a tight hug.

"I know, it has been far too long Samantha Hudson. I'm disappointed in us."

I begin driving as she speaks, feeling slightly conscious that she's judging me driving, since we've never actually been in a car with one another before whilst the other is driving. I'm sure it was just me being nervous. I was the same the first time I got into the car with my mom and dad.

"How's life been treating you?" Alex asks me, to which I look at her quickly before returning my eyes to the road. I notice that she has her nose pierced now, and I begin wondering how long it took her to get her parents to agree to it. A slight smile appears on my lips when I remember the time my mom told me that she wasn't allowed to get her nose pierced, so she did it herself thinking she could cover it. She got found out though, of course.

"Pretty good. College is great and I've met some nice people. Friends for life I'd say. Everything at home is great. Lucas has just turned a year and a half now, so he's turning into a little buggar," I laugh as I tell her, thinking about the things Luke comes out with obliviously sometimes.

"He sounds so adorable."

We drive for another couple of minutes. Alex tells me about College and how things are going in her life at the minute. Her brother's engaged now and her dad introduced her to a woman he's been dating. She seemed a bit uncomfortable when she mentioned it though, like she wasn't sure about this woman.

"If he's happy, I'm happy." She says, yet I know straight away that that is not actually the case, but I don't interfeir.

We pull up outside my old school, Dos Pueblos, just a couple of minutes later. I look at the tall building that stood before my eyes, reliving the memories in my head from when I was a student.

"So, Stephen, you think that if Mr Dootson attempted to run the London marathon next year he couldn't finish it?" Miss James asked Site whilst holding back her laughter. The class, on the other hand, were not very good at controlling their laughter as the majority of us screamed hysterically out loud.
