#sorry

I tried to pay attention to Jewels and Cory talking about apartments as I made coffee behind the counter, but my mind was worrying about other things.

"So there's this nice little flat a few miles away from my house, it's got two bedrooms and one bathroom-" Cory stopped babbling after I slammed the mug of coffee on the counter. "Go take this to that woman over there." I ordered.

"Someone's in a mood." Cory made a face at me and quickly gave the middle aged lady her coffee. "I don't think two bedrooms and one bathroom would work, I mean there's three of us." Jewels said after Cory came back. "But everything else is so expensive!" Cory whined.

"Can we not talk about this right now?" I looked at them irritatingly. "What's wrong with you today?" Jewels asked. Sighing, I sat on a stool being the counter and looked at them.

"A lot of things."

"Well what things?" Cory and Jewels sat down too, thank goodness it's a boring Friday afternoon when no ones comes.

"Well, you know now Hurlbutt is crazy and drinks like five bottles of beer every day and probably does drugs for all we know?" I asked. They nodded.

"She's starting to worry me, I'm dodging bullets here, I mean I'm surprised she isn't hurting my sisters. She hasn't hurt me because I run off before she can get too mad. What if she does something really bad?" I asked.

"But aren't you putting water and pills in her beer and stuff?" Jewels asked. I looked down and fidgeted with my apron.

"Well, um, I sort of stopped a couple weeks ago after graduation. She seemed fine and I forgot to do it anyways with everything that's been going on, so yeah, she's getting really bad."

When I looked back up their jaws were dropped. "She could kill you! How could you forget?!" Cory yelled at me. "I just did, okay? I've been so busy, it's hard to take care of your crazy evil mom! But you wouldn't know cause you have it perfect." I snapped.

"Sorry, I'm just in a bad mood, as you can see." I looked back down. "It's fine, just go home and get some sleep, your shifts over anyways." Cory sighed.

I got out of my stool and took off my apron, grabbing my keys and starting to walk out the door. "Be careful, stay away from her." Jewels said with all seriousness, and she's never serious.

"Thanks, and I will." I managed a tiny smile and walked out.

The weather seemed to match my mood, dreary and depressing. It was cloudy with a few raindrops, the wind was bad too. Hurlbutt is my biggest fear, but College has been worrying me too.

If I don't get into the college here, the only other one I applied to is that one in New York, I could apply to another one and wait, but I can't leave here until I'm in college, and I want out of here bad, before Hurlbutt goes completely mental.

When I got home Hurlbutt wasn't there, no one was, good. I walked to my room and pulled the letter from that college in New York out of my box in my closet and looked at it. The guilt from not telling Liam is starting to get to me too. Maybe I should just tell him the truth.
