I rushed downstairs as fast as I could, trying not to trip over my floor length royal pink dress. It was simple but elegant, that's why I loved it. My hair was curly and I did a pretty good job on my make up, I guess I looked pretty good.
"How are you guys doing?" I called downstairs to everyone working in the basement. "Good! Are you ready?" Mary called back.
"Yep." I smiled. Everyone rushed upstairs and gushed at me.
"You look beautiful! I would hug you but I'm a mess." Jenny smiled and I laughed. "Cory left right? She better be getting ready for prom." I asked. "Don't worry, she left right after you went upstairs." Kayla replied.
"The basement needs to be done by twelve tonight, that's when Hurlbutt gets home. I'll be home before then so don't worry. Thank you so much!!" I smiled. "No problem, have a good time. Looks like your rides here." Mark smiled back.
They all went back to the basement and the door bell rung. I walked to the door and opened it, revealing a girl who looked like a model, Aubrey.
She had on a red dress, it was sparkly and quite showy if you ask me, her hair was in huge curls and she had bright makeup on, she still looked great.
I guess we sort of just stood there, staring at each other's appearance until she cleared her throat. "I thought you weren't coming."
"Well you were wrong, because I am." I smiled. Olive and Matilda ran towards us and they squealed. "You look gorges!" They pushed me out of the way to get to Aubrey.
There went their nice attitudes.
"So do you! Is she coming with us?" Aubrey made a disgusted face when she looked at me. "I guess she has to, did you clean the basement?" Matilda asked. She can't know I have people doing that for me!
"Yes." I lied. "Well then let's go." Olive rolled her eyes and we walked out the door. I sighed in relief when I saw everyone parked their cars far away from the house so Hurlbutt didn't suspect anything.
"Woah." Was all I said when I saw the shiny, black limo outside the house. Aubrey smirked. "Pretty nice isn't it?"
"Yeah." I mumbled. "I wasn't talking to you." She sneered at me.
Well then.
We all got into the really nice limo and the driver drove off.
"I love your dress." Matilda smiled at Aubrey. "Yeah, it's thousands of dollars." She flipped her hair. The limo stopped in front of a big white house.
"We're picking up my date." Aubrey explained. "Wait, I don't want him in here and have to deal with you." She looked at me.
I just sat there, what am I suppose to do?
She whispered something to Matilda and Olive and they grinned. "Oh well, I guess it'll be okay." She smirked when the door opened and I nearly gagged when I saw who opened it.
"Hey." One of those jerks who best me up smiled at Aubrey. "Hey Jake." Aubrey patted a spot next to her for him to sit. He sat down and I sat across from them, next to Matilda and Olive who had to move so Jake and Aubrey could sit alone.
Looks like Aubrey had to end up going with someone from school. Loser.
I sat there awkwardly as they all talked, giving me a judging look every once in a while. Eventually we got to Starbucks and stopped.
"Let's all get some coffee before we go to the dance, shall we?" Aubrey asked. Olive and Matilda giggled and got out of the car with her. "Stay here for a minute Jake." Aubrey winked.
