I
You were my sun, warm and golden.
You were my song written by my pen.
You were my most beautiful melody.
You were my most treasured memory.
II
But my golden sun turned to silver.
The bright sky turned darker.
My beautiful melody became silent.
My treasured memories, far they went.
III
Maybe I did something wrong.
Maybe I played a different song.
As the stars lightened the night sky,
I still asked myself, "Oh, why?"
IV
I missed our notes that flew in the air.
I missed ruffling your ever silky hair.
Gone was the beautiful harmony.
Gone was my lovely melody.
V
It felt like I broke a guitar string.
It felt like I could never again sing.
It felt like no sound from my piano keys.
You were the lost note that I miss.
