CHAPTER 34: NO COMMENT
Meg’s POV
Gamit ang impluwensya at pangalang Bellisario, mabilis ang naging paghahanda para sa party na gustong gawin ni LA. May ilang kilalang tao mula sa showbiz at sa media ang naroon. Syempre may mga negosyante at may mga kasamahan ni LA sa MMA fighting niya.
“You can still change your mind, anak.” Napabuntong hininga ako. My mom never stops. She has been constantly nagging me about how unfit LA is for me. Three days niya na akong kinukulit na huwag pumayag sa party na ito since announcing my real relationship with my man is sealing my fate with him for forever.
“It’s been three days yet you’re still not giving up? Mom naman. I told you na final na ang decision kong ito.” Napatingin ako sa kanya kaya medyo nag-adjust yung make-up artist para mahabol ang mukha ko.
“Meg Villabela! Such a stubborn child! Nagmana ka talaga sa daddy mo.” Umiling-iling si Mom para ipakitang this time, ang stubbornness ko ay hindi amusing for her. “Your brothers and your father are trying their best to get you out of your whirlwind marriage, yet here you are! Only a few hours away from announcing this goddamn marriage to the public!”
Nanlaki ang mga mata ko at napanganga. I’ve seen my mom angry throughout the years, but not as intense as this. This is actually the first time I hear her cuss. Napalunok ako ng laway as a thought crosses my mind. She must be really mad at me right now.
I try to calm her. “M-Mom… you know how much I love LA—”
Nagulat ako ng biglang nanlisik ang mga mata niya. “THAT’S WHY WE ARE SO AGAINST THIS PUBLIC DECLARATION! WE’VE SEEN YOU HURT BEFORE AND WE COULDN’T DO ANYTHING ABOUT IT BUT THIS TIME, PIPIGILAN KO NA BAGO PA MAULIT ANG LAHAT!!”
Hindi pa man ako nakakapagsalita ay muli na akong pinangaralan ni Mom.
“Wala kang pinagbago, Meeraya! You’re still as lovestruck as ever! Mag-mature ka naman, oh? Protecting you is so not easy when you always go dumb because of that boy! Ang daming lalaki diyan, Meeraya! There’s Mico! He’s a good man, unlike that Bellisario! Why can’t you see that loving that bad boy gives you nothing but trouble?!”
