The Jackals members followed their leader into an office down the hall after leaving the Wolves on their own. Kibum shut the door as he was the last to enter the room and he was the first to protest them turning their back on Junmyeon and his pack. "Are we really going to abandon Jun right now that he needs our help?" The outrage was clear in his tone.
"We back our own first." Minho argued with his friend. "Then we worry about helping our allies."
"Suho is one of our own." Kibum pointed out. "Weren't you the one so willing to defend him just a few weeks back?"
"That's different." Minho immediately started to defend himself. His problem had nothing to do with Junmyeon. It had everything to do with the fact that Baekhyun wanted to start a new life with Miran and leave his sister behind when she most needed him. She had just woken up from a coma to find out that her husband didn't love her anymore. "That was for Suho specifically. Now they want us to help them break Miran out of a mental hospital. That has nothing to do with Suho. That's for Baekhyun and his people to solve."
Before Kibum could say anything back, Jinki cut in with much authority in his words. He was looking to Minho, the most recent and last addition to his Pack so many years ago. "You're the one who made this mess in the first place, Minho. So you're the one who needs to fix it right now." There was remorse in his voice as he added, "I turned my back on Suho, one of our brothers, for you. Now you either get them to get back together and stop causing so much drama, or you tell your sister to move on. She's twenty five, she's young. It can't be that hard to find another man." By them, he had been referring to Minha and Baekhyun.
Minho bit down on his tongue to keep from lashing back at his leader. He didn't much like the tone with which he was demanding he solve the problems that were arising. But he respected him enough to keep quiet. He merely nodded his head and left the room.
"I still think we should help Suho." Kibum said with a shrug of his shoulders before leaving the room as well.
"I think Key's right. Suho's always been there for us. Its unfair for us to turn our backs on him now." Jonghyun agreed with a sigh.
He had also been very fond of Junmyeon when he was in their organization, even though it had only been about a year. But even after Junmyeon branched out, he kept in contact and offered them help whenever they needed it. Because of that, the Jackals had promised to always be loyal to him. Now there was a conflict because in order to back him, they needed to betray Minha, and Minha was one of their own. She was part of their pack through relation to Minho, and she was also part of the Wolves through her marriage to Baekhyun. But that bond was broken now.
But Jinki remained unmoved by his brothers' arguments and their attempts to make him change his mind. "I already made my decision."

When Miran woke up next, she blinked back and was met to the dimly lit surroundings of an unfamiliar place. Remembering where she had been last, her eyes widened in shock and she struggled in her bed. By her side she could hear a heart monitor beeping louder as her heart rate increased. There was an IV needle hooked to her skin and she winced in pain as it tugged on her arm when she tried to sit up.
As her eyes adjusted to the dim lit room, she saw a figure sleeping on a chair in the corner of the room. Broad shoulders, dark hair, pale skin, his head was tilted down ever so slightly as he slept. But she knew exactly who it was.
Relief and happiness washed over her all at the same time when she saw him.
"Light!" She called for him rather weakly.
But even in her softest tone of voice he was able to hear her calling. When he had joined the pack, he and the others had trained themselves to become light sleepers. That was to keep alert in case of an attack. But whenever he knew everything was safe, he would find himself dozing off into a deep sleep. This was one of those times when he had kept himself only half-asleep and alert. His hand for a millisecond reached for his gun until everything processed in his mind and he gathered it was Miran's voice that was calling to him.
His eyes opened quickly, and he shook his head to shake the sleep away. Miran tried to get out of bed and go to his side, but the machines hooked to her were keeping her where she was. A smile spread across his lips when he saw her finally awake. He left his chair and hurried to her side, quickly cupping her face in his hands and peppering her face with desperate kisses.
"I missed you, baby." He said to her in between kisses.
All she could do was grip the material of his button down shirt desperately while tears streamed down her face. "I missed you too. I was wrong to leave you. And I was even more wrong to think my parents changed. I'm sorry." She cried.
He shook his head, reassuring her. "Don't worry about that now."
He pulled away from her only briefly to sit on the side of her bed. She moved to the side to give him some space and they both laid down in the single bed together. He laid down and she instinctively moved to rest her head on his chest. As Miran took in her surroundings once more, she realized she was no longer at the mental hospital. But she was also not at the Jackals' house.
"Where are we, Light?" She finally asked him.
"The Coven's casino has a five star hotel in its upper floors." Baekhyun explained to her in a very nonchalant way. As he spoke, his fingers ran through her hair, playing with the long strands. He missed everything about her while she was away. "We--well I--got into a fight with the Jackals and I refused to keep living in their house. So I called duizhang, and he said it was cool if I wanted to stay here as long as I wanted. I'll be helping Lay hyung run the casino now. The others will be joining us soon. They're just taking a bit longer to move out, but I couldn't stand a moment longer in that house."
Miran frowned at the news. "Its because of me, isn't it?"
"Nah." He gave a shake of his head. He would never blame it on her. Neither did he blame himself or Minha for it. It was no one's fault. They had all been victims of circumstance. The only person he saw as a candidate to share some blame was Minho, since he had lied to everyone for three years and now expected things to go back to normal as though it were so simple. "Its because Minho hyung and Minha don't want to accept that I don't love her anymore."
"Hm." Miran jutted out her lower lip in a pout.
"Don't pout, yeoja." He told her, adding with a cheeky smile. He hadn't called her yeoja in so long. It reminded her of the time when she first joined the Wolves. "Or I'll give you something to really pout about." Without warning, before she could even respond, or blink, he leaned in quickly and chomped down on her jutted lip.
"Ouch!" Miran cried out in pain. "For fucks sake, Light! That really hurt."
She balled her small hand into a fist and hit him in the chest. Then her hand went to touch her lip which was now starting to feel swollen. He only chuckled and she joined him, still in pain.
Her laughter died out as she remembered a crucial detail.
"Light," She looked up into his eyes, searching for her answer.
"Hm?" He hummed.
"What happened to our baby?"
