Sam watched Dean carry Emily out into the impala from the hotel doorway. He watched Dean look over her in worry. Sam knew that it was her newfound powers that was draining her energy. After she had read what he was feeling, she passed out. He woke Dean and Cas and they both agreed to get her to Bobby’s sooner than later. Cas watched Dean pick her up before he said he was going with them. He was in the car now, backseat right beside where Dean was setting Emily.

Sam saw the love in both their eyes. He knew that his showed it too. There was something about Emily that made them weaken to her. Something about her kindness and her blind commitment to them that was surprising. Most people cursed them out or even got weird around them, but Emily treated them with respect and kindness. She put them up for the night and fought off a monster so they wouldn’t get hurt. Others before her ran off when things looked tough.

And Lucifer was still hanging over her head. Sam pushed off against the doorway and picked up the bags. He shut the door with his foot and started for the car. He watched Dean cradle her limp body and then Cas helped to set it gently in the seat. He worried for her. One part of him wondered if she would wake up a minion of Lucifer. But he felt that nowhere in her was evil. It puzzled him beyond belief how a prophecy could forsee this girl as being Lucifer’s henchman.

“Come on, Sam, hurry it up.” Dean growled as he moved quickly behind the car toward the drivers side door.

Sam popped the trunk and shoved the bags in. he watched his brother carefully as he whipped open his door and wasted no time climbing in and shutting his door. As Sam closed the trunk and started for his door the car was already running. Whatever was happening to Emily really had Dean freaking out. Sam hated to see him like this. He wanted to make things right. He wanted to help Emily and make everyone settled again. He watned nothing more than to be content in life.

As he shut his door Dean didn’t even wait till he had his seatbelt before they were off down the road. Sam relazed into the seat and turned to get a glimpse of the back seat. Emily was slumped over against Cas, who was sitting in the middle, and he had a damp cloth pressed to her forehead.

“What is happening to her, Cas?” Dean asked with a gruff voice.

“I think her body is trying to hold everything that she is trying to gain. Lucifer is getting more of a leghold on Earth and in the battle, he will be calling upon her soon. And when he does, she needs to be ready for him.” Cas spoke with more emotion and fear than Sam ever heard.

“Can Lucifer get into Bobby’s safe room?” Sam asked running his hands through his hair.

Dean shrugged and kept his cool stare on the road. His whole back was aching and his mind raced. “I don’t know for sure, but it keeps angels out and he technically is an angel.”

“It should. But I don’t know if it can keep her in.” Cas spoke softly and with a little guilt. “She might turn against us.”

Sam wanted to say she wouldn’t. He thought back to what she said before she passed out. How she thank him for what he did. How she knew that there was more to their story than the demon hunting. He wanted to tell them, but he couldn’t find the words. Maybe it was just supposed to be between the two of them anyway. Sam just wanted things to work out. He just wanted this all to be over. Then he could sit down with Emily and tell her everything he needed to get off his chest. Then he could take Dean in his arms and know that he would never have to go to hell again.
