Sam stood at the edge of Bobby’s porch and shoved his hands into his coat pockets. He had read up on some events in a small town in Iowa that might be worth checking out. He planned to take one of Bobby’s cars and head there to get their minds busy. Cas was still inside doing something last minute. Sam smiled suddenly and let out a deep sigh. Working alone with Cas seemed perfect to him. He never really had the chance to bond with him and he was glad to be teaching their lost art. Cas was one of the few people in the world that Dean or Sam would let into their family.

“I will be ready in one more minute!” Cas called from somewhere inside.

“You said that ten minutes ago!” Sam yelled over his shoulder. But he wasn’t particularly in any hurry. He just wanted to enjoy the world moving forward. The end of everything was no longer hovering over his head. They had defeated the angels and Lucifer finally. In this moment Sam felt nothing weighing down on him. he felt weightless and suddenly ready to laugh again. It was the biggest relief of his life to know that Lucifer was dead.

Cas walked out onto the porch with a duffel bag in his right hand and a brown paper bag in his left. He eyes Sam with a little excited smirk. “I made us some lunch. Ready to go?” Before waiting for an answer, he hopped down the stairs and walked confidently toward the car they had chosen.

Sam shook his head with a grin and followed close behind his new partner. “Dean usually doesn’t make me lunch. Thanks, Cas. That is very thoughtful of you.”

“You’re welcome. Where are we going?”

            “Iowa.”

            “Iowa… sounds promising.”

Dean’s eyes opened to sunlight pouring in through the window above their bed. He was stretched out on his back on the bed. The covers were only around his abdomen and he remembered that he was naked. A warmness was on his side and he looked down at see Emily laying against his side. Her hand was laying on his chest right below his tattoo. She had her head nudged into the side of his chest. He grinned and closed his eyes. They hadn’t gone to sleep until the sun started to come up. All night they had talked and made love and watched the world slip away out the door. He had more of these days to look forward to but he wasn’t in a hurry to get out of bed yet.

A soft groan came from Emily and he felt her shift. Her hand ran along his rib cage and stopped near his hip. A small sigh puffed out of her. “What time is it?” Her voice was hoarse and she cleared it with little effort.

“Time for you to get a watch.” He snickered to himself at the awful joke and breathed in the morning air. He felt good.

She let out a deep sigh. “Your jokes are so bad. When was the last time you interacting with people who weren’t part of your occupation?”

He was about to say her and Cas but realized suddenly that they were both related to his job. Anyone he had talked to on more than one occasion was related to hunting. He was sheltered from the real world. “I can’t remember.” He said simply.

“Well tonight we should go out to a night club or something and get you immersed into society, just for a little while anyway.” She hugged him tightly and he felt her shift around.

He opened his eyes to see her set her chin on his chest with her hands under her chin. Her bright blue eyes studied him with a sleepy daze. He loved the sweet smile that was on her face and he wanted to lean down and kiss her, but he had all the time in the world to do that later.
