“Whatever happens in the future-“ I started and then cut off when I looked over and saw the necklace on the nightstand beside the other cot. I stood and walked over in almost a trance. I picked up the medallion and held it in my palm. “Where did this come from?” I asked.

“It is mine.” Dean said from close behind me. “You saw it and told us-“

I turned and stared him in the eyes. “This was my mother’s.” I felt my heart drop. I looked back down at the medallion and felt it seem to burn my palm. I set it down on the cot and looked at the red mark on my hand. I stared at it a long time. “It was my mother’s.” I whispered again.

“That isn’t possible. Sammy gave it to me when we were young. He had gotten it with Bobby.” Dean said and I knew that he was now staring at Sam.

I clenched my hand in a fist. “Where did you get it?”

Sam cleared his throat. “Bobby just gave it to me. He said that our father would love it.”

I saw a woman in my head. She was beautiful with long brunette locks down to her side. She had given me a warm smile as she held me close to her. The medallion had fallen into my face and I had grabbed it with my chubby baby hands. I heard myself scream and wail as smoke came from my hand. She had ripped it away from me with tears in her eyes. She dropped me down onto the ground of the hospital. I saw the flashing lights of an oncoming ambulance. She whispered something to me before leaving my crying self there to be discovered by the staff seconds later. I wasn’t born in that hospital, I was abandoned there.

I felt a little rage in me. I was left there on the doorstep like a piece of trash. I pushed past Dean and Sam and opened the door with no trouble. I walked out of the safe room ignoring the calls from Dean and Sam. I grabbed Cas’ jacket that was laying on the couch and walked up the steps into the house. I saw that Bobby’s truck was still there. Then I heard as shuffle from upstairs. I put on Cas’ coat almost out of comfort and marched up. I heard footsteps behind me. I turned on my heel and shut the basement door. I was filled with some pure burning and I knew that I wanted to confront Bobby alone about that medallion. There was an itch that I needed to scratch deep inside me.

I locked the door from the outside and looked around to something to jimmy the door shut. I spotted a kitchen chair. I grabbed it quickly and moved it to infront of the door. I leaned it under the doorknob and soon heard and felt their banging on the door. They were still shouting for me but I couldn’t seem to make out the words. I walked on up the stairs to the second floor. I heard something else shift and I bursted through the door. I found Bobby standing above an open chest with a pistol in his hand. He stood up and turned in some surprise to see me.

“Emily-“ He started and his innocent tone made me fists clench.

“Where did you get the medallion that you gave Sam to give to his father all those years ago?” I asked so loud that I felt my own ears shrink back. I was just so focused on my mother and my past that I was almost blind.

He stared at me in almost defeat. He sighed and I saw him clutch the gun harder. “I got it from an old friend of mine. Said he had gotten it from this lady that he had helped out. She had found a baby in a field and she knew it wasn’t human. She went to him and he exercised it, rubbed it in salt, did anything he could think of but still didn’t know what it was. So he told her that it was normal. What he didn’t know was that it wasn’t. But woman had no money and gave him the medallion instead.” Bobby looked down at his feet. “I don’t know what happened to the baby or the woman.”
