TWO MONTHS LATER

“I think it is time that we move on.” Sam whispered to Dean quietly.

“Hell no. We got ourselves into this, we are going to get out.” Dean snapped back softly.

They were sitting side by side on a sofa that smelled like an ashtray. There police costume suits would need to be dry cleaned from the smell. Currently there were on a werewolf case in the middle of Nebraska. That night in the woods after Lucifer vanished was the last time Dean heard from Emily. They buried her body three days later in the same spot Dean was buried in. Sam was surprised to see Dean not cry at the funeral. Only Sam, Bobby and Cas were there but no words were spoken the entire day. No one woulc find the words. Anything they thought of seemed corny, fake, or just plain not enough to describe.

Dean shifted uneasily on the couch. Then he called loudly to the older lady in question who had gone to the kitchen to find her extra pack of smokes. “We just have a few more questions.”

“One second. I know they are here somewhere!” She called hoarsely.

Sam sighed and rolled his eyes. He was still worried about his brother. But when Dean had suggested they take jobs and keep moving, he knew that it was the only option. They couldn’t sit and fester over Emily.

Dean’s ringtone went off. He quickly grabbed it and flipped it open before even seeing who it was. “Hello?”

“Dean?” It was Cas’ voice. “You need to get back to Bobby’s as soon as you can.”

            “Why?” Dean burrowed his eyesbrows.

“She is back and she is asking for you.” Was all he said before the line went dead.

Dean ran into Bobby’s house with an air full of lungs. He was still wearing the button down shirt and nice pants. He didn’t stop to change. Sam was right behind him as they knocked quickly and walked right in. Sam noticed that Bobby’s truck wasn’t in the driveway.

Cas was standing at the bottom of the stairs with a concerned look on his face. Before either of them could catch their breath Cas opened his mouth. “Dean, she is in the room you stayed at when you stayed here. She has requested you.”

Dean nodded and looked over at Sam. Sam motioned for him to go. They still weren’t smiling because something didn’t feel right. Cas was excited and it made them both wonder if she was okay. If Emily was really okay.

But Dean didn’t take time to ask. He climbed up the stairs. His feet seemed to not take him quick enough. He had almost given up hope of ever seeing her again. He laid awake too many night wondering where she was and if she was watching over him. He thought that she was just another loved one he would have to set aside to carry on. But now he couldn’t make his heart stop pounding.

He opened the door softly and edged in before shutting the door again. It was so fast that he didn’t know if she would have heard him. He saw the lump of her body under a comforter on his old bed. He watched to make sure it was breathing, and he was overjoyed to hear her slow breathing.

He walked to the bed and froze when he saw her face. It was marked up. There was dirt smeared across her face and he saw cuts. But the blood almost comforted him. He smiled despite himself and sat down beside her side. She was laying on her back and her chest rose so softly that Dean almost felt himself set his hand out on her chest.
