I opened my eyes and felt swore everywhere on my body. It was like a million small knots were being twisted into my skin. I felt a hand pressed to my throat under my chin. My vision was taking a moment before I could see green. I blinked and felt a moan escape my lips. There was an arm under my and it tightened around me.
I focused and saw that it was Dean’s eyes. I saw them and I focused on them with everything I had. My lips parted and I felt the skin rip. “Dean.” I groaned and felt my throat so dry that it stopped completely.
He hushed her and he ran his hand over her forehead. “Cas, where is God?” Dean asked in a demanding and scared voice. “We kind of need a miracle here. She doesn’t have a heartbeat.”
“I don’t know. She said ‘it is done’ and the next thing I know I am standing here with dead angels, blood covered Dean and Sam, and Emily is unconscious on my shoulder!” Cas’ voice was becoming shrill. “MY BROTHERS AND SISTERS ARE DEAD AROUND ME!”
“Cas, its going to be okay.” Sam’s voice not only comforted Cas, but I felt it soothe me completely.
I reached my arm up but I had no idea where it was. I had no sense of feeling in it. But I watched it fall on Dean’s face. I looked and saw the ring on it. I stared at it and then into his green eyes. I smiled effortlessly. “So, that offer about the one day in bed, is it valid?” A sharp pain shot through my chest and it caused me to cough.
“Damn straight it is.” His voice was soft and comforting to me. “Don’t you dare die on me.”
“Castiel.” Gabriel’s voice came from the left of me. “Havent seen you in a long time.”
“Gabriel, brother, you look hurt.” Cas’ voice was pained.
This time his voice was closer to me. “Emily, what have you done to yourself?” I could tell by his tone he was smirking like an idiot.
“I saved your ass.” I muttered, never letting my eyes stray from Dean’s.
“Time for me to save yours.” I felt a warmth start in the pit of my stomach and work it’s way throughout my body.
I felt something in me light, like a spark that had almost blown over. I felt the strength to reach up and wrap my arms around Dean. I barried my face in his neck and felt him squeeze me close. I held to him, only overjoyed to be able to feel him again. When he started to let go, I turned and saw that Sam and Cas were standing beside each other smiling down. I jumped up on my feet and hugged them both with so much velocity I thought we would all tip over. They hugged me like they thought they would never see me again.
When I pulled back I turned and saw Gabriel was already gone, he was never one for goodbyes. Then my eyes fell on the bodies of my past family. I stared at Zachariah, his vessel was broken and his soul no better off. Then, a bright light appeared over them and the field was empty. God was done. Things were going to be back to normal, or at least to before all the seals broke. I felt Dean’s hand press into mine until our fingers were intertwined. I held onto his hand and turned back to my family.
I watched Sam just stare at the now epty field with a childish grin. Relief was washed over his face and there was a sense of brightness coming from his eyes. His huge smile dimples made me smile as well. Cas was staring at me with the softest gentlest smile I had ever seen on him. He winked at me and then looked out into the world. This was his fresh start. It was a fresh start for all of us.
