Dean stood in his tuxedo at the end of the long yard of Bobby’s house. The priest cleared his throat beside him. His name was Roger Morris and he was an old friend of Bobby’s who has helped on his fair share of exorcisms. Dean called him up and brought him here on an old favor both of them forget what about. At this moment in time Dean felt his chest about ready to explode. He took a deep breath and felt the nerves coursing through him. Last night they had done the traditional separate bedrooms tradition and he had missed her more than he realized. It dawned on him that he didn’t want to fall asleep without her beside. He didn’t feel comfortable to sleep without her laying beside him safely.
He looked up at the stormy clouds in the sky. He wished it would’ve been nicer out. He wanted one of the picture perfect weddings, but he would deal with this. It was better than rain. Dean looked over at Sam who was standing loyally at his side. Shifting his weight, Dean pulled at the collar of his tux and looked down the empty makeshift isle surrounded by lawn chairs. It made a gran appear on his face. He wouldn’t want a wedding any other way.
The moment he saw her his eyes widened and a soft noise came from deep in his throat. He watched her face as she was smiling wider than the day he told her he loved her. The dress was magnificent on her and Dean couldn’t even mentally find the right way to describe it to himself. All he could do was stare. His mind went blank and for a moment he forgot where he was. He had so much love for her that it took his breath away. Then he felt the tears rolling. He bit his bottom lip and tried to pull himself together as she started to walk toward him.
Cas was the first one to notice Dean’s tears. It made him smile and try to compose himself. He gripped Emily’s arm in his tighter and led her down the isle. It was the one job in the world he would’ve taken any day. He felt Emily shaking nervously against him. At a glance he saw that Sam was grinning like a fool at Emily. They all knew how beautiful she looked. And it was no surprise to anyone that Dean was crying.
When Emily got close enough Dean wanted to reach out and touch her. He still couldn’t believe that she was really there. He took a deep breath when he realized he had forgotten to breathe. She smiled at him and kept eye contact. Her blue eyes were mysterious yet hopeful and extatic. They got close enough to where Cas stopped. It was the end of the line for him. It was time to give the lovely bride over to the charming groom.
“Take care of her.” Cas muttered to Dean as he let go of Emily’s arm. Dean never broke eye contact with Cas before he turned and went to stand where bridesmaids would’ve been. He turned and took his position at Emily’s side. Then he watched over as the two of them faced eachother with their hands locked. He felt a well in his chest. All four of them couldn’t keep the smiles from their faces. It was the happiest day any of them would remember for a very long time.
“Would either of you want to read your own vows?” Roger asked as the formalities of the ceremony came to a close.
I took a deep breath and nodded. I tightened my grip on Dean’s hands and stared into his eyes. A smile crept onto my face as I opened my mouth to speak and the words I had formulated in my head poured out. “When I was younger, I had seen movies where the girl ends up with this perfect guy. He is handsome, rich, caring, and most importantly he loves her. I always thought it was a crock of shit.” Sam chuckled from beside me at my swear in my vows but my nerves had let it slip. I cleared my throat and paid no attention to Dean’s cute smirk. “But..um.. the day that I realized how much you meant to me, every movie I had ever seen seemed to be right, except for a few aspects. I realized that I didn’t want a fairytale romance. I didn’t want George Clooney or Matt Damon. I wanted whatever you would offer me. I will always strive to love you and be loved by you in our own way. To me, you are the only thing that makes sense in this world and without you, I don’t know if I would make it. I promise that for as long as I am still here, even if I have to climb out of hell again, I am going to love you and I am going to protect you.” I stopped myself as I felt my voice start to shake. I felt tears surface and I wished that moment that I was a better public speaker. There was so much more I felt I needed to say. But Dean just stared at me quietly with the softest smile I had ever seen on a man, it was soft enough to melt my thudding heart.
