When he was finished and had his dark green coat in his hands, he exited his room and started down the stairs. But Sam cornered him in the hallway and gave him a shy morning smile. Dean tried to walk around him but Sam put his arm out and looked a little worried.

“I found this weird thing on me this morning.” Sam explained.

“Good morning to you too. You haven’t slept with any sketchy woman lately, have you?” Dean grinned still feeling the jokes from yesterday at the diner seep into today.

Sam rolled his eyes like he used to and pulled up the sleeve of his right arm. He showed Dean his forearm and there was the same white star that was on Dean’s. Dean stared at it for a moment before he pulled his up and they both stared at each other.

“What the hell, Dean?” Sam asked letting his sleeve fall.

“Research.” Dean whispered under his breath. “Probably some curse.” He started down the stairs. When Sam and him were in the library Emily came up softly from the basement.

She gave Sam a good morning nudge and they smiled warmly at each other. Then she turned and gave him a warm smile. “Good morning, Winchester brothers.”

“Good morning Emily.” Sam picked up his laptop and set it on a stack of books as he opened it and turned it on. “Is Cas down there?”

Emily nodded. “He slept on the couch. Poor little angel is still deep asleep.” She padded in her barefoot into the kitchen. “Want me to get you guys some quick breakfast?”

Dean turned and whispered to Sam, “Weird having a woman back in our lives.”

Sam nodded but directed his voice to Emily. “There are some breakfast burritos in the freezer!”

Dean shook his head and pulled out an encyclopedia for symbols in cults, witchcrafts, and curses. He started at stars and started to flip through. “A white star? It just seems to simple for a curse.”

“Maybe it isn’t a curse.” Sam still waited for his laptop boot and he pulled up his sleeve to survey the mark again.

Emily walked back in and saw Sam examining his arm. Dean watched her eyes widen and her face seem to pale. She realized Dean was studying her and she quickly composed herself. “Do you guys want plain or spicy?”

“Plain.” Sam said quickly as he let his sleeve fall and looked up at Emily. “Thank you.”

She nodded and turned to Dean. “And you?”

“Spicy.” Dean whispered and gave her an odd look. He pulled up his sleeve and showed it to her. “You wouldn’t happen to recognize this, would you?”

She gave him a blank stare. “And if I did?”

Dean just stared at her. “You would tell us what it is.”

“It is the mark of divine protection.” She stared at his arm without making eye contact with either of them. “I just…. I didn’t know this actually existed.” She finally looked up into Dean’s eyes. Then she looked over at Sam. “When did you notice them?”

“This morning.” They both answered in the same freaked out tone. They looked at eachother a moment before starting to get into interigation mode with Emily.
