I woke up and felt something sitting on the edge of my cot. I opened my eyes and sat up still in some daze. I saw that it was Dean’s back. He had already changed into a plaid green and blue shirt with some rugged jeans. He was hunched over something. I didn’t think he knew I was awake. I started to become more awake and realized Sam was standing over by the door with Bobby standing close by as well. None of them seemed to notice me. I stood and stretched.

“Good morning.” I said with a cracked morning voice. I looked down at Dean to see he didn’t move. Then I looked over at Sam and Bobby to see them just chatting along like I hadn’t said anything at all. I felt panic. “Hello?” I asked louder. Nothing. They didn’t even flinch.

Then my eyes moved and fell upon my sleeping body on the cot. It was me, laying there with my eyes closed. I felt a pit in my stomach and chills shoot up my spine. I walked over close to my body and held my hand against my forehead. My hand rested on me but I didn’t move. I turned and walked over to Dean. I set my hand on his shoulder. He looked over at his shoulder suddenly and just stared at it. Then he looked up, almost at me, and breathed out. We both noticed that his breath was visible.

“Sammy, I think there is a ghost in here.” Dean whispered almost angrily.

I turned to see Sam turn toward us. He breathed out and again his breath was visible. I looked around but didn’t see Bobby. Sam stepped forward and grabbed a shotgun from the pile on the other cot. He looked around with concentration.

“That isn’t possible.” Sam said still able to see his breath.

“Then what is it?” Dean grabbed a shotgun as well and stood protectively in front of my sleeping body.

I looked around the room and tried to figure out what was happening. Then I saw a man standing in the shadows to the side. He saw that I noticed him and walked toward me a step or two. It was then that I saw it was the cracked man who held the gun to Dean in my dream. He gave me a crooked smile and looked me over with an even wider smile.

“You are better than I ever imagined.” His voice made my skin crawl.

“Lucifer.” I whispered, just knowing in my heart that it was him.

He nodded with a shrug. “I see I need no introduction.”

I turned my attention back to Sam and Dean a moment before focusing on him again. I moved to stand between this creature and then two men I liked the most in this world. “What are you doing?”

“I pulled your unconscious from your body to have a chat. Since I can’t find you and I am just dying to see you. Dean and Sam perceive us as ghosts, but really we are just are souls floating from our bodies. An old trick I picked up once upon a time.” Lucifer grinned again and looked thoughtfully at Sam. “I wonder, darling, how much you know about the apocalypse.”

I didn’t know what to say or where to begin with this man. I have never been this close to a religious figure and I was lost for words. “I don’t know anything.” I said honestly afraid that maybe he would kill me if I knew anything. But I didn’t feel threatened by this man. I actually felt a little at ease which almost frightened me more than the man himself.

He nodded. “Well, I am planning to rid the Earth of humans. I am using the demons to overtake the angels and bring the apocalypse. I want to bring paradise to the angels. I want my own slice of heaven on earth.”

“Why are you telling me this?” I asked taking a step back toward Sam and Dean.

He winked at me. “You are my key.”

I just stared at him a moment unable to grasp what he was saying. “What?”

“You are my only hope. It is you that will help me achieve my goal. I need to take Sam as my vessel and take your hand in ruling the world. It is us together that will bring paradise to earth.” He looked again at Sam. “He is my true vessel. I need him to say yes to me before I can inhabit him. hopefully sooner better than later, but it will happen.”

“No.” I argued still trying to keep my body from shaking. But I thought of Dean and I pulled all my strength together and I wasn’t scared of this man. “That won’t happen. I will never help you. I will destroy you.”

He shook his head softly with a snicker. “Oh, darling, don’t deny it. You were born to serve me. And not even the little feelings you have for those Winchesters can stop it. It will consume you sure enough. And when it does I will be here with open arms. When those two bumbling idiots break your heart, I will be here. You will know where to find me. And I will never hurt you.” Then he took a deep breath and looked over at Dean. “He is the vessel for the only thing that can bring me down. If you get the chance, kill him. It would make life a lot easier.”

“Go to hell.” I spat without being able to control myself.

“No thank you. Been there done that. Didn’t really agree with me.” He smiled a devilish smile before he just seemed to fade to nothing.

I didn’t have time to even say anything back before I felt myself fade into blackness as well. I clawed to reality and to chase after Lucifer and ring his neck. His outward asking me to kill Dean made me furious. I wanted to kill him and I felt the rage build in me. But before I knew it I was passed out again. Slipped into unconsciousness.

I woke up panting and shut up in the cot. Dean was standing in front of me with the shotgun and Sam was rifeling through a journal of sorts. Dean must have heard me because he turned and smiled warmly when he saw I was awake.

“You are a deep sleeper. We fired to shotgun shells and you didn’t even flinch. We think there is a ghost here. Bobby had gone off to get some more ammo and equipment so we aren’t really sure if anyone ever died here.” Dean filled me in and kept his hands steady on the gun.

“No it isn’t a ghost. It was me.” I whispered and stood from the cot on my own legs. I ran my hand through my hair and breathed deeply.

“What? You-“ Dean started not believing a word I was saying.

“I had this weird out of body experience.” When I remembered all that Lucifer said I felt like crying. But then I knew I had to be strong. I had to hold it together and be the hero that Sam and Dean were. I had to hold my head up and fight until I had nothing left. “I think it was just some weird side effect to my visions.” I was almost too afraid to tell them about Lucifer. I didn’t want them to know that Lucifer wants me to join him. Then they might kill me or worse.

They both sighed and I saw them drop their shotguns onto the bed. “Well that is a relief.” Sam sighed and sat down on a chair beside the desk with the journal lying out on it.

“Are you okay?” Dean asked sitting down on my cot beside where I was standing.

I nodded slightly and saw down beside him. I turned and looked into his eyes. I thought about what Lucifer had said. He told me that they would break my heart. That my feelings toward them were small and would mean nothing in the end. Then I thought of the time when Sam had hugged me back and told me we were a family. They had adopted me into their circle without having to know me long. They must have seen something good and worthy in me.
