I woke up with a start and felt a shiver run the length of my back. I opened my eyes to the darkness of just another hotel room. I concentrated and could hear the sound of Dean’s breathing in front of me. I pulled the covers off of me and stood barefoot on the cold ground. I tiptoed my way over to Dean’s side and raised the cover that was over him.

His breathing caught as I lowered myself into the bed beside him. “Emily?” He asked in a dazed stunned tone.

“Shhh.” I whispered as I laid myself on the bed beside him. I laid on my side facing him but I didn’t touch him. I just watched the slice of moonlight that made it’s way into our window lay perfectly still on his soft face. “Go back to sleep.”

He nuzzled his face into the pillow and let out a deep sigh. “Were you cold?”

I couldn’t take my eyes off of his childlike face. It was so innocent in his sleepy daze. So young that I almost forgot the wear and tear he has gone through. “I just wanted to be closer to you. In case something attacked, I would be right here to protect you.”

At that he grinned and let out air from his nose in a puff. “My knight in shining armor.” He muttered with a soft yawn. He still hadn’t even opened his eyes.

I reached my hand out but stopped before I touched him. “What is going to happen tomorrow? When everything comes down on us and the world is against us?”

1          “We will do what the Winchesters always do: kick ass.” Dean rolled over unto his back and sighed deeply. “Is Sam and Cas still asleep?”

I looked over my shoulder at the couch and floor of the room that we were all sharing. I watched as their chests rose and fell to the melody of sleep. I turned back to Dean with a smile. “Lucky them. I am sorry I woke you up.”

“Don’t be. I wasn’t sleeping that well anyway. I am not much for an esxess amount of sleep. What time is it anyway?” His voice was getting stronger and he was pulling from his sleep.

“Don’t worry about it.” I pulled my hand up and set it over his chest. I laid it against his teeshirt and closed my eyes. “You need your rest.” As I felt a pain in my own chest, I heard Dean’s soft snore. I smiled and retracted my hand.

I had started to notice the rings around his eyes. And the amount of coffee he was taking in. I knew that it was healthy and he would be running on fumes soon if not now. So I would give him a gift of a restful night sleep if it killed me, but it didn’t. The only drawback was that I was wide awake. I closed my eyes and concentrated on the God that I once remembered. The one I gave up on as a human.

Suddenly I felt warmth. I opened my eyes to see a long stretch of ocean. I looked down to see my toes wriggling in the damp sand. I smiled and shook my head. Where had I gotten myself to this time? But my grin vanished, I hadn’t thought of this place. My mind quickly turned to Lucifer.

“Not Lucifer, dear Emily.” Came a loud thunder of a voice. It’s sound rang in my ears and made my heart skip.

I turned slowly to see a man standing before me. He was older in appearance with a long grey tinted beard. His pure white eyes stared at me with kindness and love. The years on Earth were carved in his face and the sun was burnt nicely into his skin. His lips drew up in a kindhearted smile as he nodded toward me.

“I never thought I would see you again.” I whispered under my breath. Just then I felt the old power course through me. I was the Angel I once was, but yet I wasn’t. I still held the emotions, the longings.

“My Golden Child, always so beautiful to anyone who witnessed you. Still a charmer down there with the mortals. Still using your power alongside your thick head.” His soft chuckle seemed to ring forever over the ocean.

“Where are you? We need you.” I didn’t lower myself to begging, but I pleaded with him. “Things are wrong. They are all wrong.”

He shook his head and cleared his throat. “No, my child, they were always leading to this. Though I always imagined you on Lucifer’s side. I am proud that you have chosen the humans in all their faults.”

“You can’t let this happen. You can’t allow Lucifer to do this.” I was some how missing the point of why he wasn’t there except in this dream of mine. Why had he abandoned us?

“I am always right here. I haven’t gone anywhere. But things must run their course. When I turned Lucifer to the depths of Hell, you stormed against me. You defied me just as Lucifer did, only yours was a bit more minor. Everyone has lost sight of me. This is the time when everyone thinks they know more than me. But, Golden Child, you need to trust me that I know. Take my hand and lead your love to victory. Take my hand and I will give you the strength to pull through.” His voice finally but off before I could think. His face started to fade into the sunset.

I screamed for him but it was too late. He was gone. His body was starting to erase from my mind. Before I woke up I reached out and felt a hand envelop mine. I took hold of it for dear life and let myself awake to the morning air.

I blinked two or three times. I tried to remember my dream but it was foggy. I ran my hand through my hair. I caught a glimpse of something on my hand. I brought it down and studied it. There were three finger marks burnt into the palm of my hand. I stared at it a moment before I heard shuffling come from the bathroom and my mind jumped to other things.
