Sam woke up with a start. He looked around and remembered that they were in another cruddy hotel. He sat up and ran his hand through his hair. He looked over to see Dean’s bed was untouched. He groaned and threw the covers off of him. He was going to have to go bar hunting for Dean. Before he stood up he felt that something was off. He remembered how Emily came over in the middle of the night and she said that they already went to the hospital and the house. How they already started on this job. But that was impossible. Maybe she had a vivid dream or something. Whatever it was, it was kind of upsetting him. It reminded him of his day at the mystery spot, when he endevered Tuesday over and over again.

He got out of the bed and started toward the bathroom. He was about halfway there when a knock came at the door. He hoped it was Dean. He walked over and pulled the door open easily. He yawned once as he saw Cas standing in the doorway with a tired look on his face. Cas seemed to not look at Sam, but look over him.

“Did Emily come over?” Cas asked in a husky voice.

Sam shook his head. “No. She came over in the middle of the night and asked where Dean was. I told her he was at a bar and she just went back to your room. I haven’t seen her since.” Sam opened the door wider to let Cas in.

But Cas didn’t move. “Where is Dean?” His eyes swept over the room.

Sam shrugged. “He didn’t come back last night. Probably passed out somewhere. I was going to get dressed and go look for him.”

Cas shook his head. “My best guess is that he is with Emily. I think that we should go to the hospital and talk with the girl, before it is too late. We have one week before another little child murders their family.”

Sam just stared at Cas a moment before he nodded. “Alright. Let me get dressed.” Sam walked easily into the bathroom and shut the door.

Cas walked into the hotel room and shut the door behind him. He moved over and sat on the corner of the unmade bed. He was silent in his thoughts. He intertwined his fingers on his lap and stared at the awful red carpet. He didn’t know what to say. He couldn’t talk to Sam, or Dean. He needed Emily. But she wasn’t there when he woke and he knew that she would want him to carry on the job. Maybe they were out doing their part. Whatever the case, Cas couldn’t keep it a secret any longer. He couldn’t believe Emily hadn’t realized it last night.

He heard a short cough from the bathroom and he jumped almost afraid of Sam hearing his thoughts. But he relaxed back and stared down at the wrinkles in his hand. He was human. He had cut his wings yesterday. Finally fallen from the heaven that all humans wish they could climb to. He was human and he was feeling everything. Ever little emotion came to him in waves. He thought over everything that has happened to him and he can’t seem to keep his emotions from bubbling over. What he wanted was to find Emily and tell her. Tell her that he was human and that he was just like her. Of course he didn’t want to be born as a human. He didn’t want to forget everything. He wanted to remember, he wanted to keep helping the Winchesters. So he just clipped his wings.

“Did Dean give you a fake ID for the FBI?” Sam called from the bathroom.

Cas started to feel around in his trench coat. “Yes. I am Agent Jim Coulson.” He finally felt it in the right breast pocket. He yanked it out and put it in an easier pocket to access. Then he started to pick at the edges of his coat anxiously.

Sam opened the door and stepped out in his FBI formal wardbrobe. He straightened his tie and cleared his throat. Cas stood off the bed and stood up as straight as he could.

Sam gave him a polite smile. “Let’s do this.”

Cas nodded and puffed out his chest a little. He was unsure of how he would fair without his powers, but he wanted to manage until he could make the announcement to everyone. He was nervous of telling them. He didn’t know if they would still want him around if he no longer had powers.

Sam put a hand on Cas’ shoulder. “It’s good to have you here.”

Cas smiled shortly and turned away from Sam. The smile grew as he realized that it wasn’t his powers that they were interested in. He had grown fond of them and they had grown fond of him as well. He could still help and they could train him to hunt like a human. He could still be a part of this family, and that was all he wanted. He just wanted to be with these people for the rest of his mortal life.
