CHAPTER 36

CHARLOTTES POV

"Y-your Jake Delansons brother?" I ask. I remember Jake. He gave me a concussion, and tried to kiss me. But that was way back in October.

"Yeah why? Is there something wrong?" He asked.

"N-no nothing" I said with a smile across my face.

"I'm Charlotte by the way" I said holding out my hand.

"Matt" he said shaking my hand.

"Yeah I know I just met you but do you maybe want to go to Starbucks tomorrow after school? Just to like hang out?" He asks.

"Sure" I say and smile. I hand him my number and he gives me his.

ONE MONTH LATER

it is now February and Matt and I have been dating for that past month. I haven't seen Hayes at all, yeah I see him in the hallway, and he waves and I wave back. But he has a girlfriend, Jordan I think. The Jordan that I hate. I don't know anything about them, besides the fact that they're dating. I am jealous, but I have Matt and I really like him. But whenever I go to his house, I see jake and it really freaks me out. Sometimes I can't look at Matt with out seeing jake.

That morning I woke up and met matt on the bus. He greeted me with a kiss on the cheek, and we both sat down letting the bus take us to school.

AT SCHOOL

matt and I don't have all the same classes, but we have some. First period I had with hayes, second with hayes, and third with matt AND hayes. I still think about hayes sometimes, I don't know why, I just do.

Hayes and I sit next to eachother every period, so I kinda think about him when he's next to me. And the funny thing is, we don't talk at all during class. Never asks for the homework like he used to, and he doesn't even talk to me, like at all.

First period flew by, and it was history. Everyone settled into class and listened to what the teacher had to say.

"For the rest of the year, you and a partner will be working on a project on chapter 10, 11, and 12" he said. So that means I'm working with hayes? Unless he's letting us pick partners.

"I'm going to be picking partners so first I have..... Charlotte and hayes" he said. This is gonna be awkward.

After everyone was paired up, he gave us a sheet to refer to what our final project should look like. So we are working on it in class.

We were already sitting next to eachother so we didn't have to do so that moving around.

"Ew I'm working with hayes" I said jokingly. He chuckled at what I said, and clutched his heart pretending he was hurt, which made me laugh.

"Ok so I guess we can get together after school or something" I suggested, keeping my eyes on the paper pretending to read it, because I really wanted to avoid eye contact.

"Yeah that sounds good. Maybe tomorrow? I would today but it's Jordan and I's one month anniversary" he said smiling. I smiled back assuring him I was ok.

This was gonna be a long project.
