It was early in the morning I slowly opened my eyes and turned my head towards the window near the bed. Suddenly out of nowhere, I heard a familiar voice shout my name
"(y/n) wake up My lady it's 10 a.m!" I turned over and sat up as I rubbed my eyes yawning before being tackled by my uncle. I patted him on his back while gasping for air as he held me tightly.
" I get it I'm up uncle!" I shouted patting his back harder as I struggled to get the air in my lungs. He let me go laughing.
" Come on my lady, breakfast is ready," He stated grinning as he walked out.
I smiled walking up to my wardrobe to get changed, I looked through my clothes and took out a blouse, surprised at the thud I heard. My eyes staring down at the pendant by my foot, I picked it up scrutinizing it as I turned it over. 'Huh, I don't remember having this?' I Opened it up, staring at the small portrait inside of it. A memory of a long-forgotten life I once lived, The faces in the portrait staring back at me made me feel strange.
I now knew how I had gotten it, it was gifted to me by my brother before I left. Such a long time had passed since I had seen him, his red-violet eyes which stared at me through the portrait reminded me of why I had hidden the pendant, to begin with. I clenched my jaw placing the pendant back into the wardrobe, It was far too late to regret anything. I dressed myself, sitting on the bed as I stared down at the laces of my boots, my mind clouded by the memories I had pushed back relentlessly. It was on a day like this when I had left, the day of my birthday.
I shook my head, as though that would remove the memories. I quickly tied my boots jumping up, Making my way to the kitchen where my uncle stood. The grin on his face was bright and mischievous, I smiled back raising an eyebrow as I sat on the table.
"I wonder what you have planned for today uncle, I'm sure it's nothing strange right?" I asked, resting my chin on my hand as I leaned forward narrowing my eyes as I watched him walk over.
He shrugged, tilting his head. "Strange? Not at all, if anything it's far from strange. It's absolutely normal!" The hands which hid behind his back, and the gleam in his eyes said otherwise.
I nodded, startled as he slammed a box on the table. He had done it so fast and left me no chance to prepare, The box was small and made of smooth dark wood. I glanced over to him, "Can I open it?"
He frowned his hearty chuckle making me nervous. "It's for you so of course you should open it!" I grinned excitedly reaching over to open the box.I unhooked it getting up to look into it, My eyes widening as I stared at what was inside. The small black dagger gleamed brightly within the box. Its handle is embedded with small blue jewels, framed by golden vines. The blade though black also had gold going down the middle, and the sheath was golden with a large blue stone in the middle. It was the most beautiful dagger I had ever seen, The first weapon I had ever received.
"What do you think? Pretty isn't I had it crafted some time ago by a friend of mine. I know it is small but I believe that in your hands it can be quite deadly." His nervous tone snapped me out of my daze.
"It must have been a fortune, It's too beautiful to even be considered a weapon I-" I was too stunned to speak, I couldn't even think of anything but the dagger.
I looked over to my uncle, my arms immediately wrapping around him. I was sure my actions would speak for me, His arms held me back embracing me tightly. He was the only family I had at the moment by my side, and though he was cast out for his past he was the only person I could ever truly trust with my whole life.
