The birds chirped loudly, I hadn't slept at all. I couldn't get that person out of my mind, whether I imagined it or if it was a fortune teller was the least of my worries. Their words were what made me uneasy, so I sat up. I wouldn't be able to sleep at all so I might as well start my chores, It was still very early and I wondered if my uncle was even up. I got dressed and made my way to the kitchen.

"You're up, It's still very early. Did you have a nightmare or something?" I was startled by my uncle's voice.

"Ah, no I just couldn't sleep is all. Are you leaving already?" I sat across from him, glancing at the letter placed in the middle of the table.

He nodded taking the letter before I could even reach for it, I frowned confused at why he would take it away so suddenly. Was it from work? Or perhaps the palace? I let it go for now getting up to get my cloak. "I'll go with you, I have to go to town anyway for some food."

He stood up, his hands reaching over to lift my hood up. "Alright, let's go then." I followed him as we stepped out of the house.

The letter hung from his pouch, I glanced up at him. His back still facing me, He probably hid it for a reason. I moved up to walk by his side, my hand reaching for his pouch as I kept my head straight. One thing I had learned from watching my uncle was stealing, I watched when I was younger but he never taught me.

"Uncle, you haven't trained me for some time now! I feel quite rusty." I had to keep his attention, I felt my hand touch the paper.

"It's only been about a week, if anything I'm the one rusting. I've taught you just about everything, but who knew that you were a quick learner." His hand quickly reached for mine, stopping my hand from grasping the letter.

I gasped, startled at how quickly he had caught me. "Damn it," He smiled taking the letter and placing it in his blouse. "Why can't I read it?!" I wasn't really interested in the letters that he got, but the fact that he was hiding this one made me curious.

"Is it from a lover? A long-time friend? Perhaps a secret child?" He shook his head, sighing as he pulled my hood down.

"A secret child, I doubt I have any. Though I should probably look into it who knows they might be as talented as me." He teased.

I rolled my eyes, it didn't seem like he'd tell me anything soon. We finally reached town, "As busy as ever," I mumbled as we squeezed through groups.

It was hard at times having to wear a hood, especially when it was hot. Without even knowing, I had followed my uncle to the docks. I lifted my head glancing around at all the men going in and out of boats with boxes.

"Hey, little lady!" I glanced over, startled to see one of my uncle's friends.

She would come to visit once in a while, only for official business but she was very kind. She was in charge of the transportation of supplies that my uncle worked for. I smiled at her, moving aside for her and my uncle to talk. I glanced around, the ships were always big. Each carried a different flag, it was fun trying to figure out where they came from.

"OI, get us some beers would ya!" I glanced over to the voice, it was right next to me by the pub I had seen yesterday.
