Murphy's Law

(Bellamy POV)

"That damn kid, always messing with my head," Murphy uses as an excuse.

"He's not gonna last much longer. Better think of a new excuse..." I say as I get ready to throw my ax. I then throw the ax. "That's how it's done." I go to grab my ax. After I get the ax out I turn to face Murphy. All of a sudden I feel something whip past my face and hear a thud behind me. I turn to look and there is a knife stuck in the tree. I start looking around camp to see where it came from. Murphy looks completely scared. Out of nowhere, August lands in front of me and we are chest to chest.

"No. That's how it's done," She says as she pulls the knife out. Damn, she is gorgeous and a badass. "And Jasper isn't dying. He's a survivor and if anyone tries to do anything to him, I promise that they will have to deal with me first." Atom then comes up. I notice August nod her head at him as if they were close.

"We searched a half-mile in all directions," Atom says. "No sign of Trina or Pascal."

"Visit your special tree when you were out there?" Murphy asks teasing Atom. I could hit Murphy for saying that in front of August.

"Atom took his punishment. Let it go," I say trying to get Murphy to quit. August gives me a confused look and I just shake my head because it's nothing she needs to know or worry about.

"Could be grounders," Atom says.

"Yeah, or they could be in pound town. A lot of that going around recently," Murphy says directing it at Atom but eyeing August up and down. I'm about to say something but August beats me to it.

"Is that all you ever think about?" She asks him venomously.

"Look, Bellamy, people are scared, and that dying kid, he's not helping the morale around here," Atom says.

"Jasper isn't dying. He's surviving just like the rest of us. He's just having a harder time," August says defending Jasper.

"Morale will go up when I find them more food," I say. I see August roll her eyes.

"And what do we say when they ask about Trina and Pascal?" August asks.

"Now?" I ask her. She nods. "Nothing. It's possible they're just lost. We'll keep an eye out for them when we go hunting later."

"Let's go kill something," Murphy says excitedly.

"You're not going. I need you to stay here. If the grounders are circling, we can't leave this place unprotected," I explain to him plus I've had enough of him for a while.

"Fine. Somebody better tell goggle boy to keep it shut," Murphy says before turning to leave but August puts her knife to his throat.

"Remember my promise," She says with venom and Murphy looks like is about to pee his pants before he runs off. Heck, she even scared me a little bit.

"I want you to come with us when we go hunting," I say to her. I notice that Atom has walked away.

"And why would I do that?" She questions with a smirk on her face. I love how confident she is. Wait, love?

"Because we need to your skills and knowledge if we want to keep everyone alive," I answer while looking her straight in the eye and getting out of my head but not before I feel my cheeks heat up.

"Fine, just let me get my bow from the dropship," She says. I nod and we go our separate ways. I'm arguing with Octavia about Atom when we hear Jasper scream. Octavia takes off to the dropship and I follow after her.

"Stop it! You're killing him," Octavia says worriedly.

"She's trying to save his life, O," August tells her and she nods her head.
