(AUGUST POV)We were sitting around a fire, waiting on Luna to show up. Jasper and I had taken interest in a story a girl, named Shay, was telling to the kids with the adults listening.
"Everywhere I looked, there were fins. And teeth. And blood. I knew if they saw me, I'd be next, so I just floated there, waiting, praying they'd swim on. But they didn't," Shay tells.
"She's here. Maybe she changed her mind," Bellamy says as Luna walks in. Clarke and Bellamy walk over to Luna.
"Finally, I decided. Live or die," Shay tells.
"The boats return at nightfall. Then you leave. Forever," Luna tells Bellamy and Clarke.
"Luna, let us explain," Clarke pleads.
"I said no," Luna says.
"No, you need to hear this," Bellamy says as he stops Luna from walking away. "There is something out there that is going to destroy us all."
"Whatever it is, it can't reach us here," Luna says before walking over to Octavia, Jasper, and me.
"It grazed me with its teeth," Shay continues.
"We need to talk," Luna says as she motions to Octavia and me.
"That's my cue," Jasper says as he walks away.
"I thought you'd want this back," Luna says as she hands Lincoln's journal to Octavia.
"Thank you. And my sword?" Octavia asks."Your weapons will be on the boat," Luna answers.
"Oh, well so much for the great Luna, the Savior of those in need," Octavia says and I nudge her.
"You don't want saving. You want someone to fight with you," Luna argues.
"Damn right. We're at war. Luna, you can't just ignore that. Lincoln would've wanted you to help us," Octavia says.
"By becoming the commander?" Luna asks with a shake of her head. "I don't think so. Lincoln knew our rules. We take people in who are done fighting. Done killing. Look at you. Fighting is all you know. Death is all you know. Lincoln would have never brought that here. You have your own nightblood, right beside you. She's fit to be a commander. She was taught by a commander and is willing to fight for you all no matter the cost, but you won't use her because you actually care about her. She's the one who will always be the one to save all of you. It's her destiny as Keryon Gona. It's why she never dies." I smile at Luna in gratitude. The crowd then starts clapping for Shay, who was telling the story. A little girl then runs up to me."Are you the Keryon Gona?" She asks me.
"Yeah, I am," I answer her with a smile. "What's your name?"
"I'm Mika," Mika answers.
"That's a very pretty name," I tell her.
"Can you tell us a story about land?" Mika asks. I look to Luna who nods.
"Sure," I answer her. She grabs my hand and leads me over to where Shay just was. "There was once this girl that lived in the sky. Let's call her, Ash. She was sent to Earth for something the people in the sky considered a bad thing. She was alone on the ground for a whole year."
(BELLAMY POV)
Clarke and I had joined Octavia again. I notice that August was missing and before I could even ask about her, Octavia pointed over to the kids. August is standing where the first girl telling the story was. August is now telling her own story.
"Ash made few friends because the people on the ground thought of her as the enemy since she came from the sky. After a year, more of her people came to the ground. Ash was so happy because she would be able to see some of her other friends," August tells with a smile. It's been awhile since I've seen her genuinely smile and be happy. "On their first day on the ground, a little girl, let's call her Tavia. Tavia had jumped into a river and was going to be attacked by this really big bad snake, but Ash was watching over the girl. Ash quickly jumped into the water and saved Tavia, who is actually one of her friends. The next morning Ash was still watching over the group of people with Tavia." Tavia definitely was Octavia. "The group decided to cross the river by swinging on a huge vine. A boy, let's call him Jo. He is also a friend of Ash's. He swung across the river first. As he was celebrating getting across, he was speared in the chest because he crossed the river. The group ran back to their camp to get help. Jo was taken and tied to a tree. The group returned with new members. Tavia had been left behind in camp by orders of her older brother. Let's call him, Bo," I see August glance over at me with a smile on her face. I couldn't help the small smile that came to my own face. "A girl, let's call her C, that was with the group, fell into a trap as she tried to get to the injured, Jo. Bo saved C. The group was finally able to reach Jo, but what they didn't realize is that this big beast was watching them, waiting to attack. Ash saw this and watched the beast waiting for it to make its move. The beast then jumped out of the bushes and was going to attack Bo. The beast had almost reached him butAsh had also jumped from the bushes and killed the big bad beast. At that moment, Bo fell in love with Ashl." Some of the kid's awed while some ewwed. Bringing a smile to August's face as she laughed. "All the kids have been fighting for their lives ever since."
