(BELLAMY POV)

I was put in a room with the doors sealed shut. It was the next day judging by the sunlight coming in from outside. I've been pacing around the room, trying my best to keep my mind off of August. I hear the doors open and Kane walk in followed by some guards.

"How long are you gonna keep me locked up in here?" I ask.

"Until I'm confident you're no longer a threat to others," Kane answers before sitting down. "Let's continue. Now you said there were hundreds of Grounders attacking. 2, 300?"

"I didn't count," I tell him annoyed by the same questions.

"Why do you think they attacked? What provoked them?" Kane questions me.

"We were here. That was enough. We're wasting time. The others didn't just vanish into thin air. They were taken, and we need to go after them," I answer him.

"Search team is prepping to leave but not before we've gotten the Intel we need from you," Kane explains and I nod before sitting down.

"I need to be on that team, please," I say. I need to know if August is truly dead.

"That's out of the question. You're not trained. It's too dangerous," Kane says.

"Those are my people out there," I state.

"They're my people, too. You want to help them? Tell me what we're up against Grounder tactics, their numbers, what kind of weapons they used," Kane says.

"Arrows and spears, axes, swords, their teeth," I tell him.

"No guns?" Kane asks and I shake my head no. "You had guns."

"The guns August and I found at the aid depot leveled the playing field, and maybe, maybe if we'd had more bullets, we could have..." I start to explain and I see Kane flinch when I say his daughter's name.

"There were more bullets. Search team just returned from the bunker. They found two more barrels full of rifles and a third filled with bullets," Kane explains.

"We should have looked harder," I state while hanging my head. Two guards then walk in with Murphy between them. "What's he doing here?"

"Excuse me, sir. Dr. Griffin cleared Mr. Murphy out of medical," Major Byrne says.

"Put him over there, Major Byrne," Kane orders. A guard walks over to me and I raise my hands in surrender.

"On your knees. Come on," A guard says. I am then cuffed to the wall with Murphy on the opposite wall.

"Well, this should be fun," Murphy states before we hear gunshots outside and all the guards, including Kane, leave.

(AUGUST POV)

I once again wake up to find Roan gone. I sit up and the pain is now manageable. I grab my sias and a few other knives. I then make sure I have everything in my bag. My sword with my bow and quiver must still be at the dropship. I'm putting my bag on my back when I hear someone entering the tunnel to the cave. I climb up to a hidden ledge at the top of the cave with a little effort and wait for whoever it is. I then see Roan come into the cave and look to where I was last time. I smirk as I grab my sias and prepare to jump off the ledge. Roan looks all around the cave before turning his back to me. I jump landing on him which makes him fall face first to the floor. I trap his arms with my legs and put my sias on either side of his neck.

"And you're dead," I say with a smirk. I remove my sias from his neck and the next thing I know I'm on my back with Roan on top of me. He has a knife pressed against my neck.
