Chapter Fifty-Five: Change

"Sasuke... Please, no more apologizing. It isn't your fault. Don't dwell on it too much." I passed a small smile to Sasuke and to a worried Itachi whom eavesdropped.

As we all walked through the village, I couldn't help but notice whispers and fearful faces. Some people even ran away from us. ANBU members walked in front of and behind us to prevent us from causing harm to the village. Just as we were about to enter the Hokage's mansion, Indira woke up complaining that she was hungry. Itachi tried to quiet her down, to no avail. I let out a sigh and looked to the ANBU.

"Do any of you idiots have something to eat?" I said lazily. We ran out of snacks a while ago and I wasn't happy with the whole "escort" situation.

"U-uh, I have a bag of chips." A younger one stated.

"That's fine. Thank you." Itachi walked to the man and took the snack. He then put Indira down on the path. 

"There you go." She rubbed her eyes and Itachi handed her the small bag.

"Mama, where are we?" She questioned as she pulled a chip from the bag. We all started walking again. Indira took my hand and held it tightly.

"This is where Uncle Sasuke is from. Were trying to enroll you in school." Indira's face lit up, and she ran to the ANBU member who gave her the chips.

"Hey, mister. You must be a part of the ANBU, huh." She asked him.

"Yes, I am. That's very good. How'd you know that?"

"Well, my Mama and Papa always read me books because I'm not very good at it yet. Thank you for the chips, Mister." She smiled and ate another.

"No problem, kid." The ANBU member patted her head and she giggled. Sasuke then knocked on the door to the Hokage's office. I let out a breath I didn't know I was holding in. Itachi grabbed my hand and squeezed it.

"We'll get through this." I mumbled to myself. There's no guarantee how this'll go... I'd die before I let them lay a hand on my baby or Itachi. That's all I know.

Tsunade stood up and walked around her desk. She shoo'd the ANBU.

"Lady Tsunade." Sasuke said. We all bowed to her. Indira walked up to her with the biggest sparking eyes I'd ever seen.

"Wow... You're the Hokage!" She grabbed Lady Tsunade's hand and shook it. I walked up to her and pulled her away.

"I'm sorry, M'lady," I bowed. "She's always so excited to meet new people."

"That's one way to introduce yourself.  That must be Indira. Your daughter, Itachi and Akira," Tsunade seemed in disbelief, almost. "Let's get down to business."

Time Skip after Negotiation because I'm lazy as hell.

"Very well. You three may live in the Leaf Village under the conditions that the two of you become full-time Jonin." My breath hitched.

"Thank you, Lady Tsunade! We're in your debt." I bowed.

"Don't make me regret my decision."

We signed a few forms basically binding ourselves to the Leaf Village. As we exited the office, I latched onto Sasuke with a huge hug, forcing him to stumble back. I put a kiss on his cheek.

"Sasuke, thank you. We couldn't have done this if it wasn't for your help."

"I didn't have much of a choice. You two brought me into this mess." He mumbled and hugged me back.
