Erika:

Y/N was sat with all of us in the kitchen, she looked like she was listening, but I knew her mind was somewhere far away. Probably making herself feel guilty about her recent breakup with Jake, or wondering why he couldn't see her the way everyone was else did as perfect or that she would never be on his mind again. Suddenly, a tear rolled down her face- the conversation went silent and she ran upstairs. Her hair flowing behind her and I could see her holding her sobs in so tightly. I glanced at Jake and I could see the pain in his eyes- watching her get upset and him being the cause would forever wreck him inside.

People started to leave the kitchen and it was just Jake and I. "You loved her?" I questioned him. He nodded. "So why did you guys end? Why did you break her heart?" I asked. He tapped his fingers on the table, his eyes glossing over slightly. "Because..." He paused for a second. "I wasn't good enough for her, I hurt her you know? I hurt her all the time...and sometimes...sometimes..." His tears choked him up. "Sometimes I did it deliberately and I hated myself for it, but I couldn't stop. I loved it when she stared at me with her big eyes glistening with tears. She was so in love with me and I took advantage of it. I was toxic for her. But I loved her, I still do love her. I think a past of me always will. But she deserved so much more than me, and when I left her I swear the cracks in her heart were visible through her eyes. You could see the pain she was feeling by just looking at her. But I guess sometimes, you have to hurt someone to help them."

I felt my own eyes fill with tears. "Jake that is beautiful...everything you say about her is beautiful, but only she can decide who's right for and who's wrong. Only she can decide what keeps her up at night, what starts her tears and what stops them." I was almost angry at Jake. "Y/N is my bestfriend and she doesn't just love you, she fucking adores you Jake and I hope one day you can see that she is slipping through your fingers and you had the chance to take her back and you were selfish. I hope that keeps you up at night Jake, the same way it does to her."
