"You idiot. I told you to look out."
[Name] sighed as she applied ointment to one of Sasuke's burns the night after their battle with the Fujikawa, resulting in the Uchiha wincing.
After Sasuke's little outburst, the couple had marched onto the battlefield in solidarity with their cohorts and duly fought, earning easy victory for the indestructible Uchiha clan. During the battle, [Name] had given Sasuke clear instructions to stay out of her battle with one of the Fujikawa's kunoichi, but due to his hardheadedness and overall resistance to following [Name]'s orders, Sasuke had somehow made his way in between the two and earned himself a nice, big burn on the back of his shoulder. And obviously, it stung. Because [Name] had intended for it to harm her enemy, not her thickheaded husband.
"I'm sorry," scowled Sasuke, highly embarrassed by the predicament. His burned shirt lay in the corner of the room, a sad, crumpled heap on the floor.
"You should be." [Name] frowned as she infused her hand with chakra, and began running it over the site of the injury. Sasuke shuddered at her touch, but eventually, his muscles relaxed, and he was able to feel at ease due to her chakra's calming nature. "Now, get talking. We did not have that argument before the battle just for me to drop it."
"What more is there to say?" contended Sasuke, earning him a straight face from [Name]. Without another word, she removed her hand from his back, and as the pain quickly began to return, Sasuke cried out, "Okay, fine! I'm sorry!"
Resuming her healing, [Name] waited, tight-lipped as she listened to Sasuke's reasoning.
"[Name], Madara will do anything to get what he wants," sighed the Uchiha. "I'm sorry for bringing it up at that awful time. I thought you would've picked up on it by now."
"Picked up on what?" asked [Name] with a frown, continuing to run her hand over Sasuke's burn.
"Madara... I don't know, he just seems to have his eye on you all the time, for some reason."
"Hmm, maybe he's just trying to check that I'm not pregnant?" suggested [Name] lightly, trying to lift Sasuke's moods. However, seeing his displeased reaction, she dropped it and apologised quickly. "Sorry, sorry. But seriously, Sasuke. What makes you think I'd let Madara get away with something like that? If he wants to take you out, then he'll damn well have to get through me first. I just have to make sure not to get trapped in another genjutsu, otherwise I'll be needing a lot more stitches!"
Much to [Name]'s delight, a small but ever so visible smile formed on the Uchiha's lips, which [Name] took to be a good sign.
"Don't worry. I won't let him anywhere near you," murmured Sasuke, glancing at [Name] over his shoulder.
"If it makes you feel any better, I'll try to avoid him from now on," offered [Name] gently, getting on her knees and looking Sasuke in the eye over his shoulder. "But! Only if we get to talk about you and Sakura."
At the mention of the Haruno's name, Sasuke groaned and rolled his eyes, turning away from his wife.
"Look, I know you don't want me to pester you about it, but if you really feel like Madara's going to pull something against you, you should play it safe by giving the council what they want," said [Name], looking over his other shoulder. "Just one time, Sasuke! At least one time! All you have to do is, uh... make sure you... get it in the right hole..."
Sasuke scowled at [Name]'s words, turning his head so that he was facing the door leading out to their wooden balcony.
"At least be serious," he said disdainfully, prompting [Name] to defend her wording.
