"Sasuke-kun? Let me know when you want to have dinner, I'm going to bathe Sarada now."

Laying on the floor in the middle of his room, Sasuke stared up at the ceiling, feeling emptier and emptier every day without [Name] by his side. He hadn't seen her in the past few days, due to the fact that her much anticipated wedding with the Uchiha clan leader was to happen tomorrow, and she had gotten tied up in the preparations alongside her uncle and the ruling family. Since the proposal almost a month ago, a fair amount of the Kouhage had shifted up to fill in the empty houses left behind by those who had deserted in favour of seeking refuge with the Senju; however, now that they were all full, the flow of Kouhage clan members into the Uchiha's residence was stunted as construction began on expanding the southern quarter of the compound to fit them all.

In addition to planning his wedding, Madara had also been gathering his forces for when he would ultimately launch his attack on the Senju. Since Sakura's elevation to the role of Sasuke's wife, the Haruno clan had been much more lenient when it came to providing the Uchiha with numbers to fulfill their cause, as had a significant portion of their other lesser allies. In conjunction with the Kouhage clan's move to the Land of Fire, the famed Akimichi and Aburame clans were also set to send their finest to join the war.

And yet, in the midst of all that, a letter to [Name] still came through to her old home with Sasuke. How or why the messenger hawk still ended up coming to the house, Sasuke had no idea. Aside from the fact that Mai should have known better than to forward Naruto's useless messages like this, the Uchiha thought that the bird would at least have the knowledge to follow its recipient to her new home. Compared to all the previous letters Naruto had sent through, this one had to be the longest one Sasuke had encountered.

Dear [Name],
I haven't heard from you in a while, but Mai assures me that you receive the letters I send. I don't blame you for not responding, as you made your wishes very clear. But I can't not try to keep in touch, what with the threat of war looming above us all. 

I can't believe everything that's going on right now- currently, I am staying with the Senju, and news is going around that Uchiha Madara is getting married. Now, that news in itself isn't surprising- given how old he and Hashirama-sama are, I'm surprised they didn't get married sooner- but rumours have been saying that his bride to be is Kouhage [Name]! You! What's going on?! Please, [Name], I have to know if you're okay. I can't sleep at night, knowing that you're being used as a pawn to gain power, and being tossed around so carelessly like this. I can only assume that you've been through enough as it is. I know the chances of you replying to me are slim, so can I at least expect to see you at any future battles that we know are inevitable? I am going to keep my hopes up and assume that I will. 

From what I've heard, Uchiha Madara is a dangerous man, but I'm unsure of whether that just applies to when he's on the battlefield. Either way, please take care of yourself. Your position is not one to be taken on lightly, but it is a scandalous one! Marrying one of the most powerful shinobi in the known world! Yes, Hashirama-sama's own wife was married previously, but she was a widow to begin with, and at least they are the same age! You, on the other hand... I don't even know where to begin. Did he forcibly divorce you and Sasuke, or did you move freely? Are you comfortable there? Don't even get me started on the age gap. It's at least ten years, right? Well, at least he isn't geriatric. He's still a decent age. 

I'm worried about you, [Name]. And I know this is probably not the best time to bring it up, but I wanted you to know that Hinata and I are expecting another child. Maybe one day you'll be able to meet my children. How about you? Do you and Sasuke have any children together? How does that work, then, if you're being married off to Uchiha Madara? I have so many questions, [Name]. I need to know that you're okay. Please look after yourself. This is a dangerous situation you are getting into. Remember, I will always be here if you need anything. Send me a letter whenever you need help, and I will do anything in my power to do so. Just please be careful.
